Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! My fiance and I are planning to do a destination wedding in Punta Cana in late April of 2015.  We have been doing A LOT of research on different resorts....and we really love what Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe has to offer.  If anyone has been to this resort and had a wedding there, I would love to hear about your experience and any advice you might have for me :)  Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Okay leaving soon and just wondering if anyone has any advice on tipping and how much? I am a past bartender and waitress for 100 years and I am a tipper! But I dont want to go overboard and i dont want to miss anyone either. So any advice on how much and if I left anyone out?

Maids?
Bartenders/servers?

Wedding reception servers?

DJ?

Susana?

Hey Natalie! Have a great trip!!!

I usually tip the maid $50 for the entire stay, roughly about $10 a day if I have them fix the room everyday.

Bartenders/servers a few singles here and there. If the bartender is great, a $5 or $10 should do it for the night

I can't help you on the last 3 as I'm still undecided on what I would tip. Guess it depends on what a great job they do and what you can afford!

Safe travels and enjoy!! I don't know much about tipping even though I used to be a waitress many moons ago. My instinct would say b/w $50 and $100 for people like the WC, DJ/MC....maybe $25-50 to the bartender. And $5-10 a day to the maids. Maybe a $2-3 each to the wait staff if you feel the need. Same for the bell hop. I wouldn't go crazy. In terms of priority, I'd tip the maids each day, not just at the end, so you'll get good service throughout your stay. The others you're tipping after the fact, so it's more of a thank you than an incentive. Just my thoughts :)

Thanks Teena84 for sharing! Great pictures!

What is the trick of getting around using the Tropical Pictures company that BBPD offers? How did you hire an independent photographer? Did you just pay their day pass or were there other fees?

Thanks- I'm just curious because I'm really not impressed with the packages of Tropical Pictures. Any advice would be great!

Hi Natalieblev, Can you ask the WC if we can use their MC For the reception without booking the entire Dj package? Safe travels and hope everything turns out they you want and more. Can't wait to hear your review.

Thanks Ilewald.  To have your own photographer at the resort - you need to have the photographer stay at the resort for at least one night.  Even if you just pay for a day pass, they would not let your photographer be there.  What we paid our photographer, included his flight and hotel stay.  I was not impressed with Tropical Pictures either, even though they are cheaper.  Their techniques are nothing extraordinary.  If you can do it, don't skimp out on your photographer budget!  We spent about the same amount to hire our own photographer as we did for our wedding package.

TIP:  I'm all about saving money, so we didn't hire a DJ nor an MC.  We had one of the groomsmen MC for the night, and he did a wonderful job.  It wasn't like he needed to be up the entire night - he was just there to make announcements and intros in between meals and things, so he still had fun and enjoyed himself.  We did however pay for sound system and audio/visual system.  I've been to a few weddings already, and I notice the ones who had someone whom the majority of the guests know, as an MC, turned out better because the guests can relate to him/her.  Just a thought.  Our groomsmen's duties weren't much to begin with, so this was a good task for one of them.

Thanks teena! I'm all about saving money as well. I didn't want to bother one of my guest with that responsibility with being the MC but im sure they would not mind.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
