Hi T!!! I didn't see any beach weddings, probably because i was there midweek. Wahh!!! I would've loved to see that and a pier wedding. Towards the back of the Bar Carey, I saw a few trays set up and guests grabbing a few apps from back there but not sure a lot of people knew to go back there. I sure didn't until i saw someone go back there. Susana gave me the menu and told me the same thing we knew...any other food option besides the main one we choose is extra. She did not mention anything about stupid place cards with the guest's food option (I read your post) and actually she probably had just finished speaking with you or something before we walked in. LOL If i were you, i'd say screw the place cards, let her deal with it! I didn't have anything services done at the spa, I decided to be a good girl and not indulge too much as I'm going balls out on everything for the wedding. BBPD won't know what hit them! LOL

Thanks!

I'm also having a symbolic ceremony at the pier, so I'm looking forward to seeing your review on everything! I picked the pier because of the many reviews about the beach ceremony not being private enough. I want bar H for my reception, but still waiting on confirmation on that.

I'm mainly in contact with Hidelbranda and honestly have had great response time on my million questions! lol

MissJali, thanks for the review and the pointers! My FI will be happy to know where to find good calamari! Parrish, congratulations and thank you also! Your pictures are great and you look beautiful!! I love the look of the beach reception! I have a couple questions for you, if you don't mind... Did you book your snorkeling excursion online? Did you supply the blue ribbon on your cake? Did the resort provide the vases filled with water & flowers? Was the champagne toast during the ceremony part of your package or something extra? I like this idea! Thanks again!

Hi Parrish! Congratulations! Your wedding was beautiful and I love your dress!! THe beach reception is something I really never had any interest in, but seeing your pictures I see just how beautiful and romantic it is!! Thanks so much for your review! I am currently working with Anders and he is so awesome! We had to cancel our private boat excursion because not enough guests will rsvp, but im still hoping once we get down there it will work out! Also I am doing a garden wedding and I am HOPING the peacocks will be there when I am!! So awesome!

Thanks again and so glad it all works out great!

Hey, We did not have place cards. I made a seating chart with table numbers and names listed under them and framed it. They provided the table numbers. They also provided a printed menu with our wedding date and names, and I did not know they were going that so it was a nice surprise. I worked with Marlene through e mail but Hildabranda was with me during out meeting and most of the wedding day. She did great, has just started last month. I brought my own ribbon for the bouquets and the ribbon on the cake looked identical, but I do not know if they did it or if they used the stuff I brought. The glass vases at the ceremoney were provided and I did not know they would be there, so another nice surprise. We used Anders with group palmera for snorkling and booked through e mail before we left. We had a private boat and everyone met in the lobby the day before to pay him. The champaigne toat is provided in the tangerine package. It is usually done after the ceremoney, but we wanted something unique in the ceremoney so we put it in. No charge and they handed it out for us. The three peice band did a nice job. I think they played the theme song to the Godfather as we walked out, but no one really noticed and it sounded nice. The beach reception was not our first choice until we saw pictures of the glowing tables then we fell in love. It turned out better then we thought. Good luck!

Parrish and MissJali...  Awesome reviews ladies!!! I'm so happy you both had all positive things to say!

So you both mentioned it's blazing hot on the rooftop. What time would you say the ceremony would need to be held in order for it not the be unbearable? 6PM? I'm also thinking of maybe having fans and/or parasols for my guests. Think that would work? I just love that location so much. And I figure the ceremony isn't that long.

Honestly it really never cooled down at night while we were there. The sun was beating down on the rooftop for the ceremony we watched from bar Carey around 6ish. However it is hot no matter where you are so if you love it I would say go for it. The ceremony does not last hours! Also it called for 40 percent chance of rain the last 3 days we were there and did not rain any of those days. Only one night if rain from about 5-630. There was usually some nice cloud cover that would come and go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
