Also, I was thinking of just using an ipod dock or an ihome for the music for the wedding... Has anyone done that? Was it ok or would it be worth it to have the DJ? And can you bring your own ihome??

I looked over what the package includes, which now I feel like isn't as much as I thought. We are doing the Tangerine Package, and the thing that gets me is that it says like open bar for 3 hours... Ummmmm, isn't the whole resort all inclusive? So how would that be as part of the package?

One last thing, someone mentioned about renting a cabana by the pool for $10 a day, when would you set that up?

Thanks everyone!

Im sure they will be fine with someone videoing you and your wedding. Never once I have heard that wasnt okay, especially if it isnt an outside company and the person doing the videoing is a paying guest.

Not sure about the ipod. I know many brides say the MC is worth the cost, just to keep things going and structured.

Yeah I think it is funny that for cocktail hour, welcome cocktails etc that they charge you for food and drink. But it is nice in the tangerine package you get international bar (which is not all inclusive at the resort) and it covers the personal servers you will have.

I am assuming you would do the cabana daily. If you are worried about making sure you have one you could ask Susana or talk to the host when you check in about it.

Glad that someone brought this up.  We as a group have very talented friends/family who are photographers/videographers coming as guests and we too wondered if it would be ok to just use them instead of Tropical Pictures. It isn't worth the cost if someone could do it for us for free :) I was really worried about the possible "outside vendor fees". Let me know ladies if after speaking with the coordinator if you had any extra costs by doing it this way.

Thanks natalieblev for the price list and information about the spa. NettyD, I think the reason why we are allowed to marry on the Friday is because we will already be married and are just doing a symbolic ceremony. I was originally given a time of 11 am on the Saturday but the time did not work for me. After a number of emails with Marlene and my TA, she agreed to move the ceremony to Friday at 4pm. Are you having a Catholic ceremony?

Hi Candacey

We won't be having a Catholic ceremony... but would really like it to be a legal ceremony if at all possible. I couldn't keep it a secret if we got married legally before we got there! lol The idea of having to arrive a whole 6 days before the wedding (weekend days don't count and neither does the day we arrive is what my WC/TA told me) is crazy! I have already asked Marlene and still waiting on a response...go figure. Thank you for your help!

Hey there misskay!!! I may be jumping in here but thought id offer my 2 cents... R u in Canada/us? I'm in Canada and heard about the whole "marriage isn't legal in Mexico" thing lol. So my fiancé and I decided to go to a courthouse right before we leave for Mexico and get married... This way when we are standing at the alter, whether it be symbolic or civil ceremony, we will "officially" be married at that point!

Hi MrsShoretobe

I live In Canada right out side Toronto area.... I have also heard that about Mexico but have done some resaerch and as far as I know when going to DR it is leagal as long as you go trough your embassy and do all the translation requirements. DR recommends going through "wedo"  maybe other bride can give more insight to both of us and clear up all this..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
