Hi Girls!

Just checked back in after a few days and it looks like I missed a lot!

Diana-

Thank you sooooo much for your responses!!!! It was really helpful!!!!

Rebecca

Congratulations on your wedding! The pictures look beautiful!! Having the reception in the presidential suite was really smart!

I am thinking about the Strawberry Passion package myself. I really like the color on the chair sashes- did they let you choose the color yourself as part of the package or was that an additional fee? Actually- did they let you choose your colors in general for both the ceremony and reception as part of the package or is that a charge? I would imagine they would have a lot to choose from with all of the weddings they have done!

Everyone-

I was scrolling through some of the pictures and noticed some really pretty glass centerpieces with candles all around. Is that what the resort provides as their standard centerpiece or were those brought with you? I want to bring/ship as little as possible!

Thank you! And happy planning!

Rebecca, thank you for your detailed review! My FI and I (who are from Winnipeg- yay Canada!) are jealous- it sounds like a dream week, especially with the upgrade to the presidential suite! I would be over the moon to have that space. We are getting married January 2014, with our wedding planned on the beach. I will kee your post on hand as we continue to plan. Thanks again!

Hi Rebecca,

AMAZING review. Thank you so much!!! Congratulations on an awesome wedding and a great vacation for you and all of your guests.

My questions...

  • Did you find this site before or after your wedding?
  • Since you didn't end up having your reception on the beach did they refund you the $15/person?
  • How many people did you have at your wedding and did you regret not getting the Tangerine Sunset package?
  • How much do DW wedding planners usually run? I have no idea what's reasonable.
  • What is a tour operator...is that like the site you book your vacation through like vacationstogo.com, Expedia, and Orbitz?

Hi girls,

So glad I could be of help. I just remember our planning process and the lack of information was the hardest part of it. Here are some answers to your questions:

Netty D- no regrets about the Strawberry Package. We had ourselves plus 30 guests, so we were right in between the two packages and when we really thought about what we wanted (and my husband's disinterest in spa treatments) we opted to save a little money by going with the Strawberry Package. And yes, you can pick all of your colors. They have about 20 to choose from. One colour is free, any additional colours have a charge (not sure how much it is though). Although our wedding colours were pink and orange, we opted to go with just orange since I was concerned about their pink fabric clashing with my bridesmaids' dresses. The bouquets had both pink and orange though.

Reign14 - I found this site quite late into my planning and didn't spend much time on it beforehand simply because I was really busy at work and didn't have the time. Also, as someone in the web design industry, I find the user interface to be somewhat cumbersome, which was definitely a hindrance to me using the site. Unfortunately we did not receive a refund for the cancellation of the beach reception - the wedding is entirely paid for on the day you meet with the wedding coordinator and the contract explicitly states that no refunds will be issued for cases like that. Like I said to Netty D - we had 30 guests and we do not regret not getting the Tangerine Sunset package. I'm not sure what other wedding planners charge and there are a lot of variables that go into the rates. PM me if you want to talk more about that. Finally, a tour operator is companies like Transat Holidays or Air Canada Vacations - I'm not sure where you live, but in Canada, these tour operators put together the entire travel package - chartered flights and all-inclusive accommodations - since direct flights to the Caribbean from Canada are hard to find.

Thank you so much for that information Rebecca, instead of bombarding you with my numerous questions I'll wait for your review first.  I'm glad that you had an amazing wedding.  I'm definitely looking forward to the review and pictures!

Hi Misskay,

I actually got a response from Susana this morning confirming my meeting in 2 weeks with her. If anyone has any particular question that they would like me to get a straight answer from Susana, please let me know as I am creating a list of questions for our meeting.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
