SoonMrsD...of course you can. I'm sure I stole it from someone else anyway! LOL it just seems the easiest to show Susana to do. The resort already does this centerpiece but want to charge $70 per table. NO WAY IN HECK! It's easy to do also

I am going to pray they don't break and carry them on. I have shipped things over there through the agencies like where you go and wire money to DR. It's fairly priced I'd say. They take it over by plane so it's usually there in like 2 weeks. However, i've only ever shipped stuff to my family's homes. Idk how it would work for the resort. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem but I just want to avoid as much headaches as possible. I'd rather pay for $50 extra at the airport and know I have everything with me. With my luck, i would ship things to my family and in their excitement for the wedding, forget all of my stuff!!! And I've been called Bridezilla LOL. My FMIL suggested we all just carry an extra piece of luggage depending on how many extra pieces I need. I imagine, I'll only need my one suitcase with clothes, and one extra suitcase for all the decor. I pray so anyway! LOL

So I reached out to Susana because I dont want to booked DJ Mannia and pay him only to be hit with a $1300 outside vendor fee from BBPD as well. She is really pushing back on this and giving me a hard time despite the fact that they seemed to have done it for a past bride. Ugh! His prices were so much more reasonable and he has amazing reviews. I will let you know if I make any progress with this.

Please take a look to the email below , email that I send you on June 12th 2012 where I inform you that outside venders where not aloud . DJ Mania will be able to be at your wedding but due that you contract them on your own you will have to pay an extra fee of $1300usd to the hotel.

HAHA WTF!!!! I need to find my own DJ! Thanks for the info.

Girls I have a question. I'm way ahead of the game because while I have 11 months left, I'm in my last year of grad school so you can pretty much subtract 5 months from the countdown. For the reception, is it necessary to have a seating chart or escort cards? Is this something I need to worry about? What have past brides done?

Let me know!

Thanks

As I suspected Susana met with DJ Mania yesterday and they signed a contract that all DJ services need to go through the resort. We will no longer be able to book DJ Mania directly even if you book a room for him. Just criminal that the resort charges almost $500 more than what he charges for the exact same pacakge! Not happy with this resort at all in terms of finances and hidden fees!

Miss Jalli we are not doing escort cards or a seating chart since we are only having 45 people. I will be doing it for my ATH that is for 120 didnt find it necessary for DR since its such a small group. Not sure what past brides did but I dont recall any mention of seating chart/escort cards. I think its a matter of preference. Oh and congrats on grad school I too am in grad school and had to take 3 months prior to the wedding off because I just couldnt juggle it. Good luck!

Ok I was thinking about extra luggage, do you know how much it would be for an extra one?

My fiancee is definitely the Groomzilla lol

Tamara, you don't have a nice dj friend accompanying you on the trip? My mom is telling me not to worry about it lol. She's like worst comes to worst, we'll just have a playlist if they decide to get crazy. You still have a chance to find someone in the local area that isn't so widely known. It's ridiculous that BBPD would do that but I guess it's to be fair to every bride. It certainly isn't fair that one bride got away with it and now we are getting the short end of the stick.

I thought of the table numbers and seating chart b/c since Shemel is from St. Vincent & The Grenadines, we thought of naming the tables after each Grenadine to incorporate his island. I'll see.

Girl please, I took almost 2 years off from grad school so I certainly can't stop now. So I know what you mean. My fiance keeps telling me to focus on just school but there's way too much to do for this wedding!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
