There's nothing wrong with the real touch flowers...I am actually making the investment into them for my bouquet and the GM's bouts. Its something I can keep forever. Here is a picture of them. I only have 3 BM and so I dont have enough bouquets to use as centerpieces but if I did I would surely use them. Definetly not being cheap its a great money saving idea and at $30 a head...um yea definetly adds up!!

Tamara, did you make them yourself or did you buy them already made? seems cheaper to buy the   stems yourself and make them...I'll definitely think about it. On another note, I'm wayyy ahead of the game. Just ordered the flatcard invitations i'm putting in the invitation suite I created, the thank you cards I will attaching to the raffia fans for the ceremony and the menu cards from vistaprint b/c my groupon was expiring. :) Only thing is this headache of the travel agency!!! I had a page in the invitation directly people to our travel agent and i'm thinking of just taking it out and if I see the quotes get better by end of may/june, just include a business card inside the envelopes. GRR!!!

tamara those are gorgeous! I love the colors too.

I got the color swatches today (i was hoping they had added some new colors!) But they dont have really either color i have been planning on using (peach and mint). I really dont know what to do as we have already planned everything else around that. I had planned on using things (table runners, chair sashes, centepieces) from my travel agent this whole time (who also does destination weddings) but that has become a headache because she has never once showed me anything she has in her stock...so i finally just gave up (after six months of nothing) and said i would use the hotel's stuff...but now I dont know what to do? Any suggestions? The bridesmaids are wearing peach and the guys gray...I didnt buy a ton of decor stuff but everything i have is peach/mint...Would another color they have for the table and chairs go with this? I am really bad with decor and I dont really  have any help because FI and I live away from family right now for his job.

Miss Jali girl please I went to Michaels and tried to make them before I ended up biting the bullet and just purchasing them through a vendor and it was an epic fail LOL. I think the really challenging part for the DIY bouquets is the quality of flowers you buy, I found that the ones Michael had looked cheap even the ones that were a bit pricey at nearly $9 a stem. It was fun to try and wrap the stem part and then do the whole pin thing but def nothing I thought would work or that I wanted to use. If you can find a vendor that has good real touch flowers at a decent price I would suggest making them. I couldnt find one and the ones I did find were pretty expense and would have cost me nearly as much as the professional ones. Well give or take.

Natalie: Did you try the Apple Green on their swatches, that looks pretty close to mint? They also have a peach color was that not close enough. I think to find the colors exact to is close to impossible, are they even remotely close? Mss Jalli is doing her site visit in May and I have my weddig in May I can probably bring you back an actual swatch as opposed to trying to match to the PDF if you want? I know your wedding is in June and might be cutting it close? Peach and grey are a great color combination, maybe just do the peach as your primary and then contrast with the mint. The contrasting color typically is just a splash her or there.

On another note: I am about to loose my mind with Susana.  First they changed the DJ price to more than double of whats on my invoice, she quoted me $30 per centerpiece and now since I am 50 days away and trying to finalize my budget she raised that to now $50 per table! WTF! I feel like everytime I turn around they are raising prices! The Tangerine Package of $4000 is nearly at $6,000 as of now.  Oh and she did finally say that we can use DJ Mannia if we book one night stay for him at the resort. But then she proceeds to say that I have to rent the equipment from the resort....really?! Ugh I need to step back because I feel a total Bitch mode moment coming on! DJ Mannia is $990 for 4 hours and the receptions at BBPD are 3 hours. I know we spoke about this already but how much is it per person for the additional hour and does anyone know if DJ Mannia comes with the MC services. Ya figure at $990 for the 4 hours plust minimum of one night stay $100 give or take I'm at $1,100 at this point. Ugh IDK what the fk to do or say...just super over budget and not getting any better!

Thanks Tamara...I will have to look at the apple green again. Im pretty sure the peach isnt close to the bridesmaid dresses...mine are the peach one in this picture....700

But maybe that wont be too big of a deal. Thanks so much for your reply. I was talking to mom and maybe the khaki would look good (kind of like a burlap look) with the pink and green. Dont worry about getting the swatches...that is SO nice of you to offer, but I think it will be fine once i get there and can just see them in person and use the khaki as a backup. Maybe the other decor will bring out that more. Thanks for the advice it is much needed!

On the extra hour- She quoted me only about a month ago that it would be 12/per person for every hour. (Plus the hotel DJ fee which is 236 if you dont end up using DJ M).

I cant believe they changed the centerpiece prices again. I just got some from her this morning and the cheapest is 60$ a table, but I had never asked for them before now.

Did anyone have a Welcome dinner for over 20 people? Marlene is telling me if I want a welcome dinner for all of my 47 guests then I have to pay $15 per person anyone over 20 people. Also it will have to be in a banquette hall and not in one if the restaurants. Also did brides get ready in the bridal room of the salon? Marlene said that only I could get ready here and the rest of my guests would have to leave to get ready.

Parrish concerning the welcome dinner...yes that is the same info i got. At the restaurants i believe they will only let you plan for 24.  A bride on her recently mentioned Ibizza or something to that effect which was a free room and dinner for a rehearsal style dinner...maybe look back a few pages and check that out.

Also another idea could be welcome cocktails. Instead of paying the hotel for that as well, we are just telling our guests the first night to meet at the same bar at the same time and will just drink our free drinks and hang out with each other!

Im not sure about the salon as I have seen pictures of bridesmaids in there so i have no idea!

can someone please tell me what the current dj price is now?? smh this was supposed to be cheaper! Natalie let me know about the swatches i'll be back may 9. unfortunately I wont get to crash Tamaras wedding. LOL. as far as the rehearsal dinner goes, the first 20 pple are free which is just an offer from the hotel forspending so much money. when I go in May, Susana better gear up bc if I have to fight with her on prices, I will. And hopefully she will let me have the Ibiza1 and 2 for my rehearsal dinner

Hello ladies, just wanted to introduce myself, I decided to get married at BBPD after staying there this past december. I've been looking at other threads for other hotels and it seems as if the same issues recur with hidden costs and delays in communication, hoping all works out in the end. Next step deciding on a date for August 2014. How did you decide on your wedding date?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
