Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Reign... Im doing a symbolic ceremony, it's just easier to plan that way. I told Susana what i want and she'll send me the invoice which will require me to put down the deposit for the reception spot. I did tell her where i want the ceremony (the pier) which is $500 extra outside the package. Im doing the tangerine sunset package which includes bar higuey for the reception.

Through our travel agent we discovered there is only one judge in the area and that is why you are given a time.  We waited WEEKS to hear back from the judge with times that he could accommodate us.  We liked none of them.  If you go with a symbolic ceremony you can pick the time / date and the resort confirms that.  Hope that helps a bit.

Not sure if we will have time for a tasting since we are only in Dominican 2 days before the wedding. Any thoughts on any of the dishes would be appreciated!

Hi newbride, I haven't been on for awhile but I got married on 10/20/12.  We opted for the caprese salad, the fish and risotto, and the creme brulee for dessert.  We had the beef for the rehearsal dinner at the steakhouse, so we didn't want to go with that again the next day, and we wanted something other than chicken.  The fish was pretty good, not great, and the risotto was really tasty.  No one raved about the fish, but no one complained either.  I would base the decision on how picky your guests are.  One thing to note too is that they will make a plate of something else for any vegetarians or people who won't eat what your menu choices are.  We had about 3 people who requested a different meal, and Susana had them brought something totally different.

Hope this helps!  Let me know if you have other questions.  I wasn't able to post pictures back then, but will try to post some now.  If anyone that can't view them here wants to see some pictures let me know and I can email them to your private email as well.

Thanks MissJali and samantha2 for the clarification. This is very helpful. Looks like I'll be doing symbolic, although I'm not thrilled about already being married when we have the ceremony undecided.gif But I guess compromises are necessary.

Hi mtrevena,

I would love to see pics! My e-mail is loray14@gmail.com.

Reign...I am also doing the symbolic, my best friend did the same thing...she had a very intimate ceremony for just her and her husband and didn't  even tell anyone, she said she wasn't on board with it at first, but she's glad she did it that way because it was a moment they shared, and it took a lot of pressure off when they did it in front of everyone else and they were more relaxed, but also that it didn't take anything away from the day they did it in front of their friends and family!

Just thought that might make you feel a little better about it!

Happy Planning :)

Natalieblev, I just checked my credit card statement for when I did my site visit. They did charge me a foreign fee for the 2 payments I did while I was there (the hair/makeup trial and the food tasting). It was 1%, I would call the credit card company and ask upfront what foreign fees they will charge you, I know some credit cards have higher fees.

on another note, I asked Lianny to give me a price to use the ceremony decoration as centerpieces (the tall cilinders with orchids submerged in water) and these are the prices: for 5 cilinders per table (different sizes) it would be 87 per table, for 3 cilinders 65 per table and for 1 cilinder 50 per table. jsut thougth I would let you girls know.. I am attaching some pics as examples

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 80

Hi Girls, has anyone heard from Susana? I sent in my deposit a week ago and no response from her still. On another note, we are CONFIRMED!!!! and BOOKED for a site visit (really a vacation disguised as a visit) in May! I can't wait to show my fiance what I fell in love with on my last trip there!

Just got back from our amazing wedding week!!! It was amazing! I can't express It enough. All of you that are planning away are going to be blown away! Our wedding was at the bar higuey And it was mind blowing! So beautiful! Our ceremony was on the beach and it was perfect! I strongly discourage getting married at the beach gazebo. It is in between the two main pools and is a major walkway for the entire day. Any specific questions feel free to ask!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
