Hey Girls,

I was wondering how everyone is or is planning on communicating with there guests about welcome dinner location and times, group excursion times and cost, wedding times and where to be when....and anything that they may need to know about. I feel I wont know a lot of the details until we arrive so I am not sure how to make sure everyone knows where and when to be places.

Did most of you plan or are planning excursions before you leave or once you get there? Are you going to plan them through the resort or with outside vendors?

How about dinner reservations? Did you or are you planning on just booking for yourself and letting everyone do there own thing or are you sharing with your guest where you are eating so they can join in. I would love to do dinner with our group if they wish to join us. Anyone have had problems with guests coming later in the week having trouble making reservations? Anyone making reservations for there guests?

Just a little worried about the organization and the logistics of having 40 guests at such a big resort and keeping everyone in the loop! Any advice would be great!

Hi Parrish

For giving my guests information I decided to do a wedding website. The site not only allowed guests to check out the whole resort/what it would cost/wedding stuff...but i also added a page that will be updated closer to the date to tell people about the excursions we have chosen and how much it would cost...So if we decide say on a booze cruise, i will write how much it costs, the length of the trip and how to rsvp.

On the excursions, we havent decided exctly which one to do as a group yet, but there is a website that barcelo has telling of all the excursions that are offered through them and i will include that for guests on my website as well so they can plan things for themselves.  Also, like for example me and my sisters all want to do the dolphin excursion, so I will just tell me guests that is what we are doing and if they would like to come they are more than welcome.

We also are doing a few cheaper or free meet ups- a welcome party which will just be a meeting at a certain time of the whole group at a certain bar where we will just all be there and drink our free all inclusive drinks! Also a bachelor/ette party for my Fi and I. *Husband is going to the cave though so his wil be considered an excursion...and then they told me we could make ahead of time reservations for everyone the night before the wedding to be somewhat of a rehearsal dinner.  All of these activities I will be printing on my "week itineary" that will be included in the welcome bags.

We do plan to tell our guests where we have made our dinner reservations, but other than the rehearsal it is up to them where and when they want to eat because we have guests with kids and also bigger partiers who might miss a dinner! :) But will just let them know incase they want to join us...that will also be in the welcome bags as we wont be able to do that until we get there.

I read somewhere where it is good to get a list of your guests room numbers so just incase things do change you wont have issues getting up with your guests (you can use the room to room phone or go see them) since the resort is so large.

Hope that helps. I found that the website has really helped answer alot of questions for my guests.

Thanks coco Holly and Aqua Tracie for your awesome reviews!! You both look so happy and amazing!! Makes me excited!!

I have a couple of questions for either of you if you have any time to answer.

How did the flower process work? Did you get to pick from many choices or was it very limited? About how much do the bouquets cost if you dont mind me asking.

If there a good bar close to/or with an outdoor area that I could do my welcome meetup? I have atleast seven kids coming and two teenagers so it has to be on the palace side and also something where it isnt too crazy but still fun.

If either of you had children at your reception did you do anything special to keep them occupied? Like a kids table or crayons or anything?

If you did welcome bags what was the one item your guests used the most?

Was there anything you or your guests didnt bring that you wished you would have?

Would the hibachi restaurant be a good place to fit about 45 guests for my "rehearsal" dinner. I want us all to be seated close to each other and i thought maybe since it has a "show" it would be something fun.

Cocoholly- you got married at the garden gazebo which is my location also. I am thinking i want to seat my guests in front of the gazebo on each side of the walkway rather than inside...is it open to do so?

Thanks again! And congratulations!

Natalieblev,

I did request different flowers from Lianny and although she could not guarantee their availability so far in advance she was able to provide prices. I was not able to upload the photos I sent her, but they were bouquet and centerpieces of mostly peonies and  hydrangea (both imported flowers hence the no grantee) the bouquet was 125 and the centerpiece 130. They will not offer any credit from the standard flower package. And I will definitely have a alternate plan in mind just in case she cant get what I want. Hope that helps.

Hi Natalie!  I am glad I was able to help!!! :D

I actually only wanted the white roses and white lillies.... I know we have seen it lots but I had bright dresses and bright groomsmen shirts with their suites being ivory.....  Also I had white roses on my Chihuahua cake topper so I wanted it to match them.. that was most important to me!!  The colors there were nice enough for me to not need more then that.  Lianny did bring up a page on her computer but I told her what I wanted and she closed it.  Also on my review page I uploaded a pic of an example of a centre piece they had there... they had lots to see!

We had a Children free trip.   My guests kept their kids at home.... There are bars everywhere that is not a worry hehehe!  Being drunk 24/7 is very simple.... Order 16 drinks for yourself is not a problem either.... there are no laws!!

There is the activities hut that has the outdoor games, swim up bar, and bar... its a easy place to meet at and also right beside the beach gazebo... HIGH TRAFFIC

I wanted to do welcome bag but didnt in the end.....

The hibachi we could only seat 24 people in the room we were in, which was two grills back to back. |I dont know if there is a larger room then that.

:D Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays :D

Thanks so much! This is actually the first time i have heard prices! I have five maybe six bridesmaids and then five groomsmen to get flowers for...making my own bouquet. I sent them a picture of what i want but its been about four months and no information at all. Its such a big part of the budget im hoping it wont be 125 for smaller bridesmaid bouquets. But thank you again for the info!! really helps get an idea.

Alright ladies that have been there..........I'm leaving in 14 days!

  • What are your options for the actual ceremony? We are having a symbolic wedding, but how did the sand ceremony work? Did they provide the stuff? (I already bought stuff.) Also we've written our own vows......will they let us read them?
  • I'm having the Caribbean Trio play at our ceremony. Does anyone else have experience with this?
  • For the reception. do they provide cake cutting utensils? Champagne glasses for the toast?

Thanks in advance for your replies! I love this blog.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
