Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

trivera I actually got pretty much the same pictures as I believe Busybride posted a while ago. Just the table setups in red, blue, etc. Each one had like a pineapple or maybe a clear tall vase with marbles. I didnt see any with flowers. I still havent gotten the flower options that are included in the Tangerine package.  I dont even know where to start really because I cant figure out the little things until the big things like DJ, flowers, Photographer are done. (Budget wise!)  If you have any new info my email is gonads_22@hotmail.com it would be so much appreciated!

I sent Mayte at Jellyfish an email just about having a rehearsal dinner there and she sent me the most detailed stuff about having a wedding there and was like "I will do whatever you want and need." I almost fell outta my chair at how quick and helpful she seemed...almost wish I would have planned my wedding there because she is so much more helpful. Oh well!!

Sunny how did your rehearsal at Jellyfish work? Did you have a fixed menu? Did they offer like family dining style platters or did everyone order what they wanted?

Bjeantil,

We asked Marlene about a rehearsal beforehand but she said she would just make sure to talk to the wedding party right before the ceremony and direct them then.  The civil ceremony, and I assume the symbolic ceremony, are very short and simple so there's not a whole lot to go over.  Not sure about a Catholic ceremony.  We still did a rehearsal dinner the night before.

natalie,

Mayte at Jellyfish is AWESOME!  She is so easy to work with and will do whatever it takes to get you what you want.  She was a dream to work with compared to Marlene, I'm sorry to say.  We absolutely do not regret having our wedding at the Barcelo but we were really happy to be able to go to Jellyfish.  There is a very lengthy Jellyfish thread on this site that has more info.

The offer a handful of menus at different prices (I can send it to you if you don't have it but I think it's also on their website).  You can choose from 3 different entrees per menu and they will take your order right at dinner.  We even did this with our 70+ guests and it all worked out really well.  I think the sides are served family style.  They are super flexible with the menu choices so you can change out apps from different menus (if you choose one from a pricier menu option they just upcharge you slightly).  You can also change which entree options you want.  So even though they list menu options, you can basically just view that as a starting point and mix and match.

Hello,

If anyone has are going to use La Barcaza what was the best way to contact them. How long did it take to hear back? Also if you used it what do you think? I may try to use it for my reception due to Marlene saying my only options for a reception are on the beach or in a ball room that does not have any windows of terrace to the outside. Looking at any other options if anyone has any ideas. The Jellyfish looks great, but a little out of our budget.

Thanks!

Parrish,

Flori is the wedding coordinator for La Barcaza, and we communicated with her just through the email on their website.  She was usually pretty quick to get back to us, usually within a day or two.

La Barcaza was so much fun!  We were really happy we had it as an extra "excursion" for our guests.  The nice thing about the Barcelo is that the boat can pick you up directly from that pier on the beach and you don't have to pay for transportation to their official dock (which is actually off of the Jellyfish beach).  Flori was so easy to work with (I realize I am sorta throwing Marlene under the bus in these last 2 posts!) and the entire staff was so fun and friendly.  You will meet with them on the boat before the excursion and finalize your package and payment.  They picked us up from the pier around 11am and took our guests out to the boat with a few trips in their tender/dinghy.  We sailed to the "natural pool" where people could swim around for an hour while they grilled and prepared our lunch.  We then sailed around the coast and had lunch and were back at the hotel around 2:30pm.  I'm sure it would be so fun for your wedding reception.

Sunny,

Thank you so much for the help. I would have LOVED to do the reception at the Bar Higuey, but they are saying it is booked. The only other option they are saying I have is the ballroom and and I am not feeling that. If I am on such a beautiful place on earth I really don't want to be in a room with no windows of views to the outside.

How was the weather during the night for you? We are getting Married May 4th and my only worry about the boat would it would be cold for a cruise that was from 6-10pm?

Also thank you so much for helping all of us brides who have not done this yet, it is really great that you continue to help!

Very much appreciated!

Disazaja,

You must be really excited to visit the resort!? I'm sure it will really help with planning the little details. I visited the resort in March with my fam before we booked anything. We absolutely loved the resort, but unfortunately I wasn't thinking ahead as far as food tasting and hair trials, good on you! What meal options are you considering? Were you thinking of having a cocktail hour? If so will you be doing tastings for there apps as well? While were there we ate at the steak house the seafood place and the Japanese. The steak house was good, the seafood was okay and the Japanese was great! I'm very curious about the canapes the offer at the cocktail hour and how they will measure up. Also as I have mentioned in previous posts, I'm considering changing my reception from the beach to the Bar Higuey (which for whatever reason they never showed me!) All the photos I've seen are of the same angle, if you are able to view this space would you please take some pics from different views so i can try to get a better idea of the space? I would really appreciate itcheesy.gif

Have a fantastic time!

Hello,

I just sent out my invites last week, so far everyone thinks they are super cute! We did a passport style invite with inserts inside with travel agent info and resort info. Also there was a RSVP card that looked like a boarding pass. From Me 2 You Creations made them for us and she did a great job for just a little over $6 an invite. I really LOVE them!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
