Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Recommended Posts

Hi trivera

I am using a TA as well and was able to get a locked in rate without giving any deposit. We blocked off 30 rooms.

However, I have been finding really good deals on flight plus resort or just resort from vacationstogo.com.  If i was doing it without a TA i would be using that site. My parents used it to go to the DR last year and they had no trouble with it at all and got better prices. I would just check it out if you are looking at the barcelo website and then compare. They are a wholeseller website so they tend to have better prices.

TRivera,

I am using apple vacations, and so far they have been great. I blocked rooms in 4 different categories for 7 days. My guests will be able to choose the amount of days they want to stay within the 7 days period and the type of room they want.

I had to pay a $50 deposit to start the whole process and this goes towards my final balance (our stay). You do have to pay a deposit depending on the amount of rooms you want to reserve, here is the breakdown:

1-10 rooms - 500 deposit

11-20 rooms - 1000 deposit

21-30 rooms - 1500 deposit

31-40 rooms - 2000 deposit

41-50 rooms - 2500 deposit

This deposit is all applied to your stay or plane tix, etc. So you are not really losing any money...Guest have until 120 days to reserve their room and they can do this by paying $50 per person and then have to pay the final balance 60 days before the wedding.

I am also using this company for my honeymoon, we are going to another resort right after the wedding.

If your guests book through them, they have hotel-airport transfer included.

I can give you the contact of the girl who has been helping me. She has been great.

Hope this helps!

Her name is Danielle Laverty, dlaverty@applevac.com , 610-359-6541. Make sure to specify which rooms you are looking for, the jr suite, deluxe golf, etc.

We are going to Majestic Elegance, I wish we could stay at Barcelo but having your honeymoon around family and friends is not a honeymoon ahahahaha

Great groupon! Thanks for sharing!

Trivera sorry took me so long to reply but in order to get group rates I had to reserve at least 10 rooms. I reserved 15 and had to put a $1500 deposit but just like disazaja said you have up until the 120 days to get your money back or remove rooms without penalty. And we get that money back were just putting it towards our stay. I went through my TA and used travel impressions company it includes transfers. I only reserved two different room categories jnr suite & oceanfront jnr suite club premium. My rates are based on at least a three night stay then a set price for each additional night and prices depend on how many ppl in a room the more ppl in a Rm it is a little less pricewise. but for example a jnr suite with two ppl is $344 for 3 nights then an( all prices are per person) additional $97 per person per night depending how many nights they want to stay.(so two ppl in a jnr suite for 3 nights is $688 total)then for oceanfront a room with 2 ppl for 3 nights is $465 and an additional $137 per person per night. I reserved more jnr suites than oceanfront thinking everyone would probably go with cheaper prices but so far majority of guests want oceanfront.

Hey ladies, just wondering - how many in here are doing the symbolic ceremony? Are you getting married before or after? Right now I am booked for a civil wedding...but we wont find out the time of the ceremony until 2 weeks prior and it could end up being anywhere from 11am to 6pm...so i am considering getting married at home before - but my mom really wants me to do it "for real" in the DR but between the paper work and not knowing the time...I am really second guessing this!!

thoughts?!?!

I did a civil ceremony as well and I didn't end up finding out the time until I met with the wedding coordinator, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING. It wasn't a big deal for me because what mattered was the day was scheduled. It ended up being at 3:30pm. Also keep in mind the residency requirement of three full business days before the wedding. My WC said that nothing is booked after 5 though. Day or arrival and wedding day do not count, neither do Sundays or Dominican holidays.

good luck!

Plus, I'm not sure, but I THINK the WC's do the symbolic ceremonies.

I just wanted to share the info I recieved about the residency requirement. My TA says there is no legal residency requirement for the Dominican republic the resorts set their own residency requirement so they have time to meet with you. Saturdays and Sundays do not count bc the WC is busy with weddings. She spoke to marlene and asked. My wedding is a Saturday and I am arriving on a Wednesday and she said that wouldn't be a problem. I guess just call to double check for what day you wanted to arrive.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
