Your so welcome! Just an FYI, I don't know if you're getting legally married there or it's symbolic but i know that there is a residency requirement. You have to be at the hote 3 business days before the wedding. Arrival day, Sundays, wedding day and any dominican holidays don't count. We arrived on a Saturday and were married on a Thursday. Mon, Tue and Wed were our "residency days". I'm not sure but I THINK the same goes for symbolic weddings as well so check with Susana and make sure to schedule your appointment before you head down there. I emailed her a couple of weeks before to set it up. Again, I hope all this info puts you at ease. Good luck with everything I will be sending my warmest well wishes.

Has anyone notice that prices for the resort have gone up?! I booked someone honestly like 4 1/2 weeks ago at $86 per night for an adult and I went to book someone today and it was nearly $145 a night per person. Its for our May 2013 wedding. I was shocked really? Thinking maybe its considered peak now in July? IDK, maybe they will go back down...sigh. Feeling really worried about this pretty substantial price increae all of a sudden and we are still like 10 1/2 months out.

I just received my first email from Marlene and I want to email back but from reading through some of these threads I want to be sure to hit her with one email and ask all of my questions in there.  So with that here is what I have so far and I need some suggestions on what I may be missing.

I would like a beach ceremony and beach reception.  With eitehr the Strawberry or Tangerine packages what is the additional cost for the beach reception?  Is dinner included in the prices?  With a beach reception is there lighting?

Can I bring lanterns for centerpieces?

My goal is to not go overboard but I still want this experience to be a WOW factor.

Trivera are you checking prices on the barcelo website? I was worried about that too that's why I locked in my group rates. I didn't want to take the chance. My TA told me when I locked in my group rates that they weren't updated for 2013 yet mine are 2012 but since I locked them in they wouldn't change if prices went up for next June. So maybe they are the new rates. Try calling the 1-800 # for barcelo they are helpful. I think that's a big $ difference. Maybe if you call they will know why and when best time to book is.

Trivera, I am using a TA in Baltimore.  I met them at a Bridal Show.  They are handling all my guest room reservations and they have been fantastic!! The agency is called Dreamers Travel and I am working with Mark, Laura and Jennifer.  We reserved 30 rooms through them and there are only 2 left!! I am so excited!!!  With them, we had to put down $100.00 per room to lock the price.  The good thing is that with them you donâ€t loose your money.  If all the rooms are not booked by 120days prior to your wedding date, they reimburse 100% so you donâ€t loose anything.  When I was looking for other ways to have my guest reserve, all the agencies had some kind of fee for those rooms that were not booked.  also, they don't charge you for anything.  With them once you reach your deadline they ask you for permission to release the rooms that are not booked and you get your money back.  Also, your guests have until 2 months prior to your wedding date to pay for their rooms.

Give them a call and see what deal they can get you.  They are really nice! Good luck girl!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
