Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

trivera5521 I am so glad that you had a good time and enjoyed the resort and all if offered. We loved the Hibachi restaurant, but didn't get to try the steak house. The Spanish restaurant was good when went.

I did know about the entrance tax and I did inform my guests. I attached a photo of our invite that also has an info card with such information if anyone needed ideas.

I chose the pier and would suggest it to brides. Even though the other locations are great, If you are in the public areas you will have other hotel guests in your photos and space. At least on the pier I was told they would set a guard at the entrance to resort guests off it while we have our ceremony. I know that if you really push it with Marlene they will add an additional option to the menu but of course it comes with an additional cost.

I know as far as driving in DR, no non DR living person should be behind a wheel. If guests want to venture out the excursion companies will pick you up, or cabs are available. I have been to some of the marine parks and if people want to explore in a controlled manner I would suggest it. We have also been investigating the clubs in the area outside the resort. We found 2, 1 of which we visited and it was awesome called "mangu". The 2nd which has great reviews so far it "imagine". Check it out if your looking for a hard core party night, it looks like a great place. We will TOTALLY be going!

Hello brides and congrats to all!!

I'm also getting married at the BBPD and I have to thank all of you for all the info! I feel that now I know what to ask for and what changes they can make.  I am working with Lianny and she has been nice so far.  However, she is not that good about getting back to me.  We already paid to reserve the date for the religious ceremony but had no info regarding reception venues until I found you guys! Thank you so much for all the info and wish all the best.

Please keep posting all info you get, I am still in the working process but feel that the wedding date is coming up very fast and have not done much.  If you have any info with regards to prices, decorations, menu please if you can send it to my email elymaraponte@yahoo.com  I actually get more from you than from the resort itself.

Well I am going to be patient and positive that everything will work out!

Thanks to all!!

This thread has been sooo helpful to my daughter (Kayla) and I.  Her date has been changed and just waiting to hear from Marlene to confirm it January 2013.

Sunny55143 - we have asked for the Bar Higuey for the reception as well.  We have approx 85 guests and this spot looks amazing on the edge of the Convention Centre. Marlene said something about it gets busy so a 30% deposit is required but we havent rec'd more info than that. Hoping someone might know if this is mandatory and 30% of what?  Is there a fee to having the venue here?  We are going with the Tangerine package and this venue should be included...right?

Elycoco - Hi :)  you said you had to pay for religious ceremony already?  Kayla is having a catholic ceremony in the chapel located on the lake of the golf course.  Is this where you will be also?  Marlene never said anything about a depost (which is fine) but maybe only once she confirms the date with the priest?

Thanks again all for all the insightful info - keep posting and we'll keep reading LOL.

Welcome Elycoco!  When are you getting married?

MinStoon, I'm not sure if the 30% deposit is mandatory, but that is also what Marlene told us and what we put down.  You give her an estimate of the extras you want, along with the package and she will draft up an invoice and do the 30% off of that number.  And obviously it will go toward whatever the final bill ends up being.  There was no additional venue fee for having the reception at Bar Higuey - it is included in the Tangerine Sunset package.  Also, the max for using it is 88 people, FYI.

We leave 3 weeks from yesterday!  Eek!

I started another BBPD thread but no one responded. This is what I asked:

I confirmed our wedding date, time and package this week. Can anyone tell me what the process is now? We were initially going with a different resort and we received a welcome package explaining everything. It also had every single fee, the process and cancellation info in the packet. After we confirmed we haven't received anything else. And we did not pay a deposit for the wedding package yet. Can someone that has gone through this let me know what to expect? It's a little weird in a sense because I feel like I haven't really done anything.

In addition can someone send me the menu options?

Has anyone done the Buffet?

So now that I switched resorts most of my guests are upgrading their rooms. It's kind of funny because I switched resorts to it will be more affordable for everyone. One of my friends said today. Since it is cheaper we can now afford to upgrade. I guess everyone has the same out look. I'm really excited because I gave a deadline of today being the day everyone needs to pay their deposit. And people are calling the TA to make their payments! pinkie.gif    I set up the payments alittle different. I know I'm dealing with people that will wait until the last possible day to say they want to come and pay up. Because of this I created payment days that are different than the days the travel agent provided us will. Instead of the deposit being $50 per sperson to hold the room, I told them that it is $100. And instead of telling them the final payment is due in August I gave them July. I figured that leaves room for the late comers. I also made sure I emphasized on the fact that the group rate can go up if the deposit is not paid by a certain date.

My wedding date is Dec 4th 2012!  I booked the strawberry package, paid the 30% and we are having the beach location wedding!  I was torn also, but I would like to feel the sand between my toes!  Thanks to the ladies who have provided so much information! So grateful and excited :D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
