Oh dear!

I think I am now happy they are not coming--will be less stressful this way!

This must be the first wedding that breaks up a family rather than bringing them together.  It must be for the best--sometimes things like this happen for a reason.

Nevertheless, we fly on Monday!  Can't wait!

Best of luck to everyone else struggling with family issues.  I've learned just to "let it go."

You don't need that kinda of stress, and must be so relieved that they are not coming.  Have a great wedding and vacation and enjoy all those that will be there!

I am sorry to hear your parents and uncle have chosen so poorly, but it is amazing that you are in such a good place about it.  You were 100% right to do what you did and not invite the friends.  Your parents should never have put that request on your shoulders - not even if you were getting married near home.

I hope you have a wonderful wedding next week with NO DRAMA.

I agree. Things happen for a reason.  It's sad people are treating you this way, especially so close to your Happily Ever After!  The first time I every heard of an AI resort was about 6 years ago when my parents went to Cancun.  Guess what?!?!  Neither of them drink, ever!  Don't let harsh words stick in your mind.  They will live to regret this, but they should be the one's to live regreting their decision, not you.  You will be a beautiful bride!  Good luck and Congrats!!!!

Sorry to hear about your situation.

We went through something similar with my FI's parents. They made up a million and one excuses as to why they would not attend. Then finally, they decided to come and asked if we would invite their neighbours. So I didn't want to, but I wanted his parents to be there because I didn't want him to have any sadness on our wedding day, so we invited the neighbours ... who declined!! That made me mad, because we wasted the money on the invitation for them and they weren't even coming!!

Anyway, his parents are coming now, but they are staying in a separate villa. They are going to cook and clean because they didn't want the AI option and both FI and I have agreed that we will not be spending time away from our other guests to hang out with them, They couldn't do what we asked, they had to be difficult and we are not going to let it ruin what we have planned to be an amazing trip.

PS so exciting that you leave so soon!!! Good luck and congratulations. I am sure everything will be amazing, and your parents should be ashamed of themselves for missing it!

So glad that you decided to stand your ground! It's your parents that are the selfish ones in not attending, and they will have to explain why they aren't at their child's wedding.

Make sure you send them a lovely photo of you enjoying yourself with all your guests, and add "Had a perfect day! So glad we decided to go away for the wedding!"

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
