My Wedding Photographer Quit--3 months before my wedding! I need a NEW ONE!

I posted another thread about my wedding photographer and I having some issues and in the end, she just decided to quit. I am in a bit of a bind and am looking for any other girls who brought photographers with them for some input or recommendations. If you would prefer to PM me the info that would be fine.

Basically our photographer was going to do a full day of wedding shooting and a TTD session in exchange for the cost of our trip. I realize that a lot of photogs charge a fee on top of this but it was not in our budget to do so....

We wanted all of the photos (I had around 1000 images in my mind) on high res. cd so that I could print and do whatever with them afterward.

My wedding trip is leaving from Toronto-Varadero, Feb. 1-8th, 2011. We are staying at Sirenis La Salina...I am close to tears as I write this, because I have a vision for my wedding photos and it looks like it might just not happen....

Does ANYONE have any suggestions on someone either that they have used or know that would possibly shoot this wedding for us?

Thank you so much in advance.

If there was any way to discover if other brides had their wedding the same week as you, you might be able to share their photographer ...

I'm sorry that's all I can think of, short of finding another one and paying a higher price...

I'm so sorry this happened to you. sad.gif Why did you photog quit?! That's horrible 4 months before the wedding!!! I hope she had a valid reason ... then again, no reason is valid when it comes to ruining your wedding vision ... sad.gif

*huge hugs*

You need to have a contract signed with your photographer. It's there to protect you as well.

There's no professional photographer who would photograph your wedding for free, but search for someone who's new and they'll do it,just like your photographer considered. Worst case(and I mean WORST case...) contact your resort and they'll provide a resort photographer for a few hundred $$

You sound like photography means quite a bit,so perhaps consider hiring someone. February is not very busy month in most cases and you'll have a good chance finding someone.Extra few thousand $ is nothing compared to what those photos will mean to you in 5-20 years.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! We found some wiggle room in the budget, cut a couple thousand from our AHR budget and added it in for photography. We are in talks with a couple professional photgraphers and have an in person meeting scheduled with one of them that I consider to be the one we are most interested in hiring. Photography is number one to both of us and has been since the start, so spending a few grand on bringing a pro and getting exactly what we want is more important than saving some bucks at this point!

And Dmitri, a contract WILL be signed!!! Thank you for your advise from a pro photographers perspective! :)

My best friend got married on 10-10-10 and the wedding photographer they hired was WONDERFUL.  I love photography and really picked his ear at the wedding.  I know he is looking to expand his portfolio with more international destionations this winter.  You should look him up.  AugustTPhotography.com

I hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
