A diamond falls out of your ring 18 days before your wedding! censored.gif

I'm venting and am SO annoyed. This is the second time it's happened! Word of advice, stay away from pave' diamonds as accents, they're just so small the prong obviously can't hold them tight enough. And the last time I got my ring fixed they lost it and I had to get a whole new ring. I kept saying something has to go wrong because its been smooth sailing so far...I guess if this is the something wrong its better then losing a key item like a wedding dress!

I don't think its bad luck, but I would say it is bad craftsmanship by the jeweler. I can't believe it has happened twice. After the first time they should have reset the prongs. Are they at least not charging you to replace the prongs? So sorry that you are dealing with this 18 days out from your wedding. How nerve racking. I would definitely have the jeweler fix it with a guarantee that the prongs would either not become loose again or lifetime warranty that they will keep fixing it free of charge if it does. Hope you get it all sorted. Good luck!

I totally agree.  My 1st ring was a beautiful 3-stone setting with pave down both sides.  LOVED IT!  Went to get it cleaned and a week later a stone fell out.  While it was there to be repaired 12 stoned loosened up and they were reset as well.  My ring was actually palladium, a softer metal.  According to the jeweler, the industry had just began to see that it was too soft for some settings, particularly pave.  They also advised me that pave was just more delicate to maintain, even in white gold.  They suggested that I take it off while doing house work etc.  When I gave it some thought, I decided I was not comfortable.  I started having dreams about it and everything.  I went and got a new ring and am very happy and feel very secure.

I understand your frustration but I would blame the jeweler so much.  I was upset but as long as they can do something to accommodate you, that should be okay.  Pave is a gorgeous setting and I truly love it.  I just don't look at it as an everyday type ring.  I hope it all works out.

AND NO I DO NOT THINK ITS BAD LUCK.  POOR TIMING, BUT YOU AND YOUR MARRIAGE WILL BE FINE!

I actually tease my FI about it. The very first piece of jewelery he bought me was for my birthday, 3 months after we met. He bought me a David Yurman bracelet with a pave diamond x. About six months later I noticed one of the stones fell out. Thankfully, Holt Renfrew replaced the whole bracelet.

The day after I got my Tacori e-ring which has .25 ct of pave diamonds, I noticed one was missing. We took it to a local Tacori dealer that offered to send it back to Tacori for repair. I didn't want to part with it, so we had the jeweler that set my center stone replace it for free. So now I tease him that it's a good thing he buys me expensive name brand jewelery so that when the stones fall out they are replaced for free.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
