Whats the most affordable resort for Destination weddings in DR?

Recommended Posts

I think the cheapest resort really depends on which time of year you go. Going in the off season is the best time for lowest prices June-October however its more likely to rain during this time. But lots of girls get married in this time and have no problems.

I know its so overwhelming picking a resort and I still haven't 100% decided yet. I just go to lots of websites like expedia, travelocity, orbitz, etc. and check different prices of resorts at different times of the year.

Hope that helps some.

I'm still kind of considering the DR, and it seemed that November to early December is a good time to go. The prices were still very affordable (seemed to start going up around Christmas and stayed up through April or May), but the chances of rain are a LOT lower since it is a little removed from the official hurricane season. I don't have the website with me since it's on my work computer, but you can do a search and find the average rainfall for each month. September and October were still pretty high, but it dropped off in November.

However, my sister lived there for about a year and a half, and she said even if it did rain, it would be a short 5-10 minute rain/downpour and that would be it for the day.

As for which resorts are the most affordable, I think it all depends on what 'affordable' means to you and what you're looking for. Like Aumiller said, I would suggest just doing a search on Orbitz or something and then seeing what comes up!

Agreed, it's a tough decision and all the info can be soooo overwhelming!!!! Good luck!

My wedding was UNBELIEVABLE. I got married at Melia Caribe Tropical on August 7, 2010. My wedding coordinator was Heinciy Santana and she was an absolute God-send. The resort was stunning and the wedding could not have been better. Our photographer in particular was wonderful. Arnaud Brichet with HDC photo I highly recommend. HIs email is arnaudbrichet@hdcphoto.com  for anyone interested. But for the cost and the result, I will recommend Melia forever. Enjoy!!!!

I just returned from our wedding at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. I can not even begin to describe our dream wedding and the staff at the Riu. They went above and beyond.  Everything was beyond our expectations.  Our guests traveled from Oct 5-13th and we used a local NY travel agent who got our guests a great price of 131.00 per day all inclusive (5 stars) air fare can depend on where your traveling from.  Based on the packages, the floral, the DJ and the photographer were all amazing.  We used Daniel Gastaldi from Antillana de Fotografia. AMAZING!!! Magnolia & Maria were my wedding coordinators and took care of every detial.  If you need any more info or want to see pics. please PM me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
