2 things....

(1) does anyone have any recommendations for hair and makeup?  I'm still undecided about whether or not we are going to do our own makeup but i know that we definitely need someone for hair.  I'm waiting to hear back from the hotel salon to see how much they charge.  Has anyone used them before or seen any of their past work? if anyone has any recommendations for good and not crazy expensive hair/make-up people, i'd really appreciate it.

(2)  for any of you that have already gotten married at the fabulous La Amada Hotel, do you have albums online that you wouldn't mind sharing so we can see how everything looked and maybe even get some ideas?

Thanks and happy planning to all!

Hi ladies!

I am getting married at La Amada April 2012, and was wondering if anyone has done the bonfire/mexican buffet on the beach for one of their events? how was it? was it too windy? what did you do for lights, music, and seating?

thanks

Hello La Amada Brides!

I'm so happy I found this thread. I'm from NYC and planning my destination wedding at La Amada on May 5, 2012. I've read through most the responses on this thread and have found it very helpful. I recently came back from a trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres right next door to LAH and fell in love with the area, which is what made us choose to have our wedding at LAH.  I'm very excited, but I am so lost as to how to begin planning a destination wedding.  I was hoping some past and present brides could give me a little advice on some things.

First and foremost, my major concern is that I can't find a travel agent that can offer me a standard package for this hotel without having to go through so many complications.  My future sister-in-law is a NYC travel agent and sent the hotel an email requesting a room block and group rates and the hotel wouldn't give us either and just encouraged us to book through their website. So I tried going through a few bigger named travel agencies, but they won't give me a package plan unless I give them exact names and number of people coming up front.  So I've finally decided maybe it would be best to just have everyone book directly through the hotel.  I've inquired about a room block for the second time and Ive been patiently waiting to hear back from LAH to have them send me prices for a deposit on a room block, but I haven't heard back yet because it takes them about 2 weeks to respond, which is getting a little frustrating.

I am expecting about 100 people, and my fear is that the hotel will book up and my guests will be forced to stay elsewhere. Has anyone else had trouble with this, or know what the hotel's capacity usually is? I've read on Trip Advisor that the hotel always looks empty, so I'm hoping that I won't have an issue with the hotel not having enough room for my guests, but would appreciate it if anyone else had any insight on this.

And secondly, can anyone tell me when they sent out their actual invitations, how many months before? I'd like to give my guests ample time to plan for the trip down there but don't know what's too soon or too late. As it is, I'm only 9 months away from the wedding and don't have anything booked yet but my wedding date down there, so I've got a lot to do.

I'd love to hear any tips LAH brides have that might be useful to me! Thank you

Hello  there

Congrats for your engagement and happy planing

April is a very good date to get married in cancun. You can be sure there will be no rain at all.

Just advice your guest that weather can be a little hot.

The hotel is beautiful and full of places to take awsome pics.

Best Regards

Hi La Amada Brides AND EVTL55!

I'm new to BDW and also planning to wed at La Amada Hotel in late June 2012.

I'm having the same exact same issues as EVTL55 and would love some expert advise on how to proceed with booking and getting the ball rolling with this place before it's too late.  I also am having 100+ guests attend and stay at La Amada.

Rmarino222, can you also add me to the La Amada bride email as well?

You ladies are my saving grace.

Grazie!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
