December 2011 Brides

Marlena-- what a great turn out-- 60 people without any real invites yet!  We are at 52, and hope to get the invites out this week.  We only have 3 rooms left at the resort, so I am hoping we dont have this huge rush of people booking now that have never even talked to us about it before.  We will see!  Maybe we will have to spill over into a neighboring resort.....   my place allows non-resort guests to come to the ceremony/reception, so that is a nice option.

I am SO JEALOUS your dress is too big.  I am going to have to go on a celery only diet NOW!  So little time to lose the flab!

Happy planning everyone!

Hi ladies!

I started posting in Feb but school got super crazy so I sort of fell off the earth. We are getting married at Secrets Sanctuary in Cap Cana DR  Dec 12th. I have a question about the invites, probably a crazy one. SO, we sent out save the dates and were planning on sending invites for the at home reception (early spring) next month. What invites are you ladies sending? I am wondering if I missed a step, uh oh! :S

I love seeing that everyone is doing well with planning!

As far as invites, we decided on only doing the STDs. We were going to do actual invites, but everybody who is coming already knows and is already booked, so I figure, why add something else to my list and budget?? :) I'm just going to send information packets closer to wedding time.

i sent out STD's in February, and on it i put 'formal invitation to follow'. I have ordered a bunch of stuff from cardsandpockets.com and I just have to print them and send them out. I'm thinking by the end of the month I will have them in the mail, and have an RSVP for mid October. I don't want any surprise guests popping up! I want to have everything organized.

Jacki,

I have 6 more pounds to lose. I think that will put me into a size 8 before the dress fitting! It's so tough to lose though, between bridal showers, summer bbq's...but I'm doing something right!

I just finished addressing invites last night.  I only am doing "real" invites because of the politics of work-- I am up for a big promotion this year (that actually is decided the week of my wedding!) so I have to make sure that the right bosses get "invited" although I know none of them will attend.  Or so I assume..... Ah!

I made my RSVP deadline really early-- Sept 3, because I have to cancel any unbooked rooms by Sept 10 or lose my deposit.  I really believe that anyone who plans to go has already told me, so now it is just a matter of getting those handful of people who are left who have expressed interest to decide one way or the other.  And like Marlena, I do NOT want any surprise guests come popping up in November!

Ahh, it is so close!  So exciting and overwhelming all at once!

Hi girls, I am new here and did nto get much done. Just got my dress and we finally picked the resort. My fiance proposed to me int he end of July. First we thought to get married in Dec 2012, but decided that we dont want to wait that long, than we wanted to do in the end of Mrach in 2012 and hour families/friends started to give us hard time. So we decided to get married just two of us in Dec 2011 and have AHR in march with family and friends. I am so excited :D

Happy planning everyone

Congrats kat2012!

So my fiance and I are sending invites out in the next few weeks and are going to do a separate invite for the AHR closer to the date (as recommended by invite person). So many parts, ahhh! What are you ladies having the men wear? I was thinking linen or a nice cotton, pants, button up, no tie. Ideas??

Thank you lindsnjosh,

I am thinking about ordering him linen suit from studio suits, or whatver the name of it. I am not sure if we want linen shirt+linen pants or linen suit and shirt. I will be frying alive in my dress anyways. So i think he can pull off suit if it looks better. LOL

But really, whatever he decides. And definitely no tie... I dont think he would forgive me if I force a tie upon him :D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
