Aww Jacki, you get to come back from Jamaica to my reality!! I live 2 1/2 hours from Fargo, and trust me, it's going to be a COLD slap in the face! I've been dreading the coming home part since we started planning!!!

As far as bridal showers go, I pretty much threw my own last weekend. It went really well overall, but when it was all over I was asking myself why in the heck I drove myself crazy with little details!?! If anyone wants to see a few pics I added them to my planning thread. :)

On another note, I spent the afternoon in a last meeting with my FI's priest, who is doing our official ceremony this weekend. He is really ruining it for me! To give him credit, he's 85 and very traditional, but it's so frustrating!! We're only having our daughter, his parents, and my mom at the actual legal wedding. We aren't telling anyone else (that's right, you're all in on the secret!! ;). Haha. But he keeps saying he doesn't know where he went wrong with us and apparently he didn't get through to us since we're doing everything backwards, and should be having a big party and wearing the dress in the church. Keep in mind he's Catholic. But ugh!!! We just want to enjoy our moment! We are incorporating God very heavily into our Jamaica ceremony as well, but since it's not Catholic he scoffs at it. Trying to focus on us and what we want and not worry about him, but it's a tough fight! :(

Well ladies, I'm LEGALLY married now. ;) It was quite entertaining- I'm hoping anything that was going to go wrong already did! Haha!!! We got to the church (it's extremely small) and the heat was out, so it was 43 degrees in there. It actually has a wood burning stove in the middle of the room, so we lit it and then had smoke burning our eyes. On the plus side, it was like camping, which I love!!! ;) His parents made a mistake on the time, and showed up an hour late, so we waited in the cold by the fire for them. Also, his mom just had surgery two days ago, so she was loopy and could barely walk. Then the priest lost our book with the readings we had chosen, so we picked some more out of the spot. All in all, it was hilarious!!! I also cried during his vows, which his dad was right there to photograph- those will be lovely!! LOL! Anyways, I'm hoping the next go-round is a little smoother! ;)

Congrats Kimberili! All that is left is the fun part in Jamaica! Glad you are taking all those mishaps with a grain of salt, it will be fun telling these stories to the grandkids when you get older!

On another note,... I leave in less than 2 weeks and still don't have my dress ... Yikes!! I'm really getting nervous that this seamstress will not get it done right on time!!!!!

I have a question, do we have to do anything here (as in Canadian brides) to make the ceremony legal ? I know they give us a marriage certificate in Jamaica, but do we have to register that when we get home ? Does anyone know how that works ? I just want to make sure its all sorted out....only 2 weeks to go!!

That's great that you got all the gifts you wanted :D

I am having my bachelorette party this weekend and I can't wait for it. Gonna see some friends that I have not seen in a while. :D

With 16 days to go I am starting to get an anxiety. The last thing that is left to do is packing and music! I am so excited. Also I feel like I am forgetting something important. Does anyone else have this feeling?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
