December 2011 Brides

It is a bit pricey, but I like it a lot. So I think I am going to try it on monday :D And yes I know what you mean about little sewing job :D. I think I've done it myself to a few of my dresses.

Just to warn you though the dress fits big (she is usually a medium but a small fit) the way the top of the front is we need to just sew it closed. The way it crosses it kind of flaps open and is really really low cut so a simple sewing will fix that. If that makes any sense.

I really like your wording :D I might use some of it.
But my situation is a bit tricky.

I know that most people or almost everyone won't come for different reasons. Also I feel like I don't want them to feel left out and uninvited. So I am trying to say is that we are getting married than and there, we would love to have you with us, but we know that not everyone can make it. So please come celebrate with us at AHR and we will update you later on a date and a place. ( With most friends in army, I will have to see closer to the date if they can make it, I don't want to make a party when most of our friends will be away)

So it is invitation and not quite.

That is why I am having such a hard time with it. LOL

Ladies,

I still have to get my dress fitted. I'm going to do that next week. The seamstress Im taking it to only needs 4 weeks or so, and I havent tried the dress on since I bought it in January!

I bought my bridesmaids gifts, they have their dresses and shoes, and Im getting RSVP's back from people.

My first bridal shower is tomorrow afternoon! Im pretty excited about that!

I think Im going to do a welcome brochure and hand it out for people to read on the plane, that way they can see the map of the resort, what to do while we are there and make sure they know about the welcome dinner and when to be on the beach and sober for the wedding !

I've emailed Jodi about flowers and she responded to me twice in one day! She actually emailed me an excel spreadsheet of what I have selected so far in terms of flowers. Im going with submerged orchids, in 3 glass cylinders. I told her i didnt want to spend more than $60 dollars and that's what she came back with. One of my friends got married here in Toronto and they quoted her $140 for submerged orchids, so i think thats a good deal since they are local flowers!

Today I was quite productive,

I did our monogram and put together and printed all our invitations ( for wedding and AHRs). It was a lot of work since we will have 3 AHRs.

I did not even start to put together our invitations.

And I can't belive it took me all day to do it.

Ohh, and I finished our wedding website!!!

Invitations out, and starting to get responses.  So far no surprises.  I have been slowly but surely picking up table runners, paper lanterns, etc. for decorations.  The resort was pretty easy in picking flowers, DJ, other music options and entertainment.... so we had all of that done really early.  Now it is just: (1) picking menus; (2) deciding on excursions; (3) figuring out what to do for a welcome event; (4) welcome letter/ guest "face" book; and (5) a thousand other details I am likely forgetting.  I have this grand idea for the guest "face" book that I will have photos and descriptions of all the guests so that they get a chance to know each other and how everyone is connected to us.  BUt I have a feeling I will run out time/energy to do this.  :(

Excuse my ignorance... but are we suppose to send the invitations this close to the wedding date? Or is this like a 2nd invitation your are sending??? I sent mine in March LOL .. because I wanted to give everyone a chance to save up if ever they didn't have the money right away... but maybe I should have sent it later... more people would've decided to come maybe??? I have no idea what is the general rule on that??

We have very small number of people to send it too and most people knew what we are up to.

My invitations were not straight ahead invitations, it was more of what's going on/invitations thing.

And we figured if anyone wants to come, they still have time to book it. And if not they will know that we did not forget them and will have AHR/party with them that place and that date. Our first AHR/dinner will be on December 30, second one will be on January 21 and 3 will be once I know that most of our military friends are home.

So yeah, because of all that we decided to send our invitations at a standard 3 month mark, as they advise in all the magazines and websites. :D

I know that most people were sending STD far in advance so people can save and actual invitations 3 month in adavance :D

Hey Jacki,

Another idea for guests to get to get to know each other ahead of time (and what I did) was to create a Private Event page actually on Facebook. That way people can scope our their fellow guests and even have things to talk about once they arrive. In a world of social media, it's easy to feel close to people who are attending the same event just by a few posts! It really got our guests even more excited and was easy enough to push out info that way too (and a lot less time consuming than putting together an actual book...and having to travel with it :) Just a thought!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
