December 2011 Brides

Recommended Posts

Jacki7896,

All I have done is the STD and bought a dress too! I don't think I have anything to do for a while...We started booked our travel, but that's it.

Have you asked anyone to be bridesmaids ? I'm afraid some of mine will get pregnant between now and then and I'm not sure when to ask them

Marlena,  I did ask 2 people to be bridesmaids, I am keeping my wedding party very small.  The matron of honor already told me she wouldn't order her dress for awhile because she wanted to make sure she wasn't pregnant.  A lot of my close friends have called recently to say they cannot make it because they are pregnant, so I guess it is good I did not plan on a larger wedding party.  It is definitely a concern!  I got engaged in August 2010, so I decided I had to at some point start asking people to be in the wedding party otherwise it just seemed weird.  But I think you definitely have time to wait to see what happens over the next few months.

I'm thinking about asking my girls this week. Our travel agent wants us booked by Feb. 15th, so those who've booked are going to be there ! (hopefully) and then I can sort out my bridesmaids. I guess since it's not too formal we can get dresses somewhere downtown Toronto. There's endless shopping here!

I would like to have 4 in total. I know we will have 4 groomsmen, so I guess I wait and see who books this week!

  • 3 weeks later...

hey everyone! So we are also planning to have our wedding in Dec 2011. so far we are aiming for the 10th but we cannot set a date untill my FI finds out about a possible job opening in April! this is frustrating... im so excited and i just want to set a date and book already haha. the only thing that i have is my dress!!!! i bought it 3 weeks ago and i accidently sumbled upon it. i cant wait untill it comes in for fitting. is anyone thinking about the DR? thats where we are thinking because the prices seem to be lower for our guests. I found the Ocean Blue & Sands resort and i think that is my #1 pick right now. has anyone else looked at it?

Jacki,

I'm thinking about sending out my invitations in August. I think that gives everyone who didn't book by our group rate date (feb 15th)  time to organize themselves to get time off work, expense etc. Hopefully, we can organize some engagement party over the summer and invite everyone who is coming to the wedding to meet everyone else. (my family lives 3 hours away from the city, so it would be nice for them all to get together before we go) and a bridal shower in september.

Most people do an after party, but getting married in December...by the time we get home, it's snowing,  we go back to work...we're putting up a christmas tree and then it's new years. I think a summer pre-wedding party is a good idea!

Hello ladies!

I'm getting married December 6th at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, Montego Bay. I ordered my STD's and got them last week, but have yet to send them out. Most of our guests will be family so everyone already knows about it. Unfortunately some more extended family members have taken it upon themselves to decide they're coming without an invite....agh! So we have to sort that out and decide who else we have to invite if these people come.

I also bought my dress just this last week!!!! I love it but have had so much worrying about it since I had to try on one that was a couple sizes bigger, so it's hard to tell how it will look when it fits perfectly. But.... I went back to try on the two I was deciding between and when I put the one on that I thought I wanted, the song I want as our first dance came on. Plus, I went back today to get a fabric swatch, and they told me the sample of the dress I tried on and decided on was actually bought RIGHT after I came back the second time to try it on. I'll take it as a sign that I happened to come in to try it on right before the sample was sold. ;)

Other than that, I've just done lots and lots of looking at magazines and forums! And I'm booking my makeup artist today. I decided and jumped in! Making some of those decisions is just so hard this far in advance, but I need to start going for things.

Nice to meet you ladies, hope we can help each other! cheesy.gif

Marlena... August sounds like a good time to send invites.  I did a site visit this past weekend and got most of my stuff booked (florist, cake, music, etc.).  It is just a relief.  Plus the FI is super happy to not have to look at centerpiece ideas anymore....

For those of you getting married in Negril, the Floral Fantasies woman was AMAZING.  Their website leaves a lot to be desired, but having met with her in person-- she is great.  She took the vision I had in my head that I was not really able to articulate and made it a reality.  Super happy, so I highly recommend them for those getting married in Negril.

Jacki,

The site visit is a great idea! I don't think we are going to do that though, we've had some people that I work with that have been to the resort we are getting married at and say its fantastic! I hoping to go with the steel band for the day for our music!!

I bet its a great relief to have all of your stuff booked!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
