is anyone planning daily activities for the guests that are attending the wedding?? like a welcome party for the day that a lot of guests arrive and then other daily acitivities for them.  i want to start planning things like this but i'm not sure how to go about it.  i plan on putting a welcome booklet in the out of town bags but i'm not sure how many things should be planned? do i plan daily activities?!

I am thinking of planning a welcome cocktail hour and one optional excursion.  I don't plan on scheduling anything else because I want everyone to enjoy their vacations.  I am sure my fiance and I will spend additional time with family, but I don't want it to be structured.

yeah, i'm thinking i'll plan welcome cocktails or drinks by the pool or something (depending on when our guests are arriving) and then kind of give them an outline over the few days that we will be there (ex., thursday - beach/pool day, etc) and then leave it up to them if they want to join or do their own thing.  a lot of our guests are arriving on wednesday (ceremony is saturday) so i don't want to bombard them with required activities or anything but i also want to make sure that they feel included in the whole wedding celebration weekend.

Welcome cocktails for a meet and greet or a welcome dinner is always a nice touch that your guests will truly appreciate. We did a Welcome Dinner the day before the wedding at the villa we were staying at and had a taco man along with mariachis for live music. It was AWESOME and we also got the chance to hand out our Welcome Bags to all our guests. cheesy.gif

Other than that, it's also a great idea to have a list of excursions you plan on doing so if they'd like to join, they have that option -- events like a beach day, trip into downtown, visiting a tourist attraction are awesome ideas!

We plan on having a welcome cocktail party so that people will get to know each other. The next day is the wedding, and then we want to leave it open so people can enjoy their vacation. FI and I plan on doing OOT bags with a welcome letter/booklet. Two things we are thinking about doing, 1) letting everyone know that everyday at 6:30pm (example) we will be at 'this bar' for a pre-dinner cocktail, if they wish to meet up with us. 2) the other thing one of my bridesmaids suggested was a 'bulletin board', maybe on our door? (not sure if the resort will allow this). Where people can place little notes, like Wednesday- going to the ruins, if you want to join contact.....This would allow people to perhaps join up with our guests to do outings/shopping/etc. And the best part you don't have to do the planning!

I plan on doing a welcome dinner. I would like to plan a group excursion too. I don't really want to schedule a whole bunch of activities throughout the week because I want people to be free to do whatever they want as its their vacation too. And I would like some alone time with my fiance too!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. A welcome dinner/bbq/or cocktail hour is always a fun way to welcome guests, thank them for coming so far and giving them a chance to mingle and get to know each other. Be careful not to plan out too much for your guests to do, this is a vacation for them as well and they will at times want to relax and do their own thing. We are scuba diving on Thursday, having a welcome cruise on Friday and the wedding Saturday and brunch on Sunday. I made sure to let all guests know that they are more than welcome to attend any of these activities throughout the weekend complimentary, but in no way have to feel obligated as this is their vacation as well and we don't intend on holding them to a schedule.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
