Sick fish...

We have had our happy 35 gallon aquarium for about a year. We started with about 6 fish, but our 3 convicts (which I think are a type of African chiclid) killed the other fish. We then added a beautiful feather fin catfish, which the pet shop recommended to us. All was merry between the fish- except a scuttle here and there. The convicts all grew about 4-5 inches and the catfish got FAT.

I then wanted a pleco to help with some of the cleaning...we bought one and unfortunately he brought an illness with him. One convict died and so did my catfish. I only have two convicts left. I wasn't sure what to do since I have never had a sick tank before. I googled it and found so much conflicting advise.

I did a half water change and removed my two dead fish which seemed to have fungus all over them. I added a medication for fungus to the water. I hope it works. My poor little remaining convicts are looking at me like HELP! They don't have any fungus growth on them, but I have noticed them sometimes lingering at the top of the tank.

Has anyone else battled a sick tank? Does any fish ever survive?

Oh no! We had a beta that died - he started getting all these white spots on him until we woke up one day and he was gone sad.gif Poor Francois sad.gif

I'm sorry I don't really know what to say for a full fish tank but I hope you can save your fishies!! Can you go to a local fish store and ask what they'd recommend?

That's what I was kinda planning on doing today after work. I live in a tiny town 30 mins outside of Salem, Oregon. So when I finally noticed my fish were all dead after I came home it was too late to go ask the fish store what to do. I was able to find some medication though in one of our tiny stores so I was thankful for that.

I have a betta too...I work. He's soo cheerful to look at. We named him Masta Betta. Lol. I'm sorry Francois died. I take it hard when anything dies. I'm such a softy. My FI thought I was crazy last night. He was like...I hope nothing happens to your dog. I was like HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT!!

Haha, I'm that way too! I hate it when anything dies - it totally freaks me out. When my first beta died (his name was Sapphire) my friend had to flush him - I just couldn't do it! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
