Has anyone heard of Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay?

Recommended Posts

Hi Foxy,

The gazebo and aqueduct are listed as options on their website, but to be sure about those spaces accommodating larger numbers, I went back to the first e-mail I ever received from Alisha. The quoted excerpt follows.

"130 persons is Hummingbird Hall's capacity; but there are a number of options:

- Ceremony at the gazebo/beach/aqueduct and reception on Hummingbird Hall's Lagoon Deck if you are sure that your total numbers (including bride, groom, bridal party, children etc) will not exceed 130.

- Ceremony at the beach/gazebo, and reception under a  tented marquee at the aqueduct; we are more flexible about numbers at these locations, though there is a premium for these sites."

So our backup plan, I would say is that we will be paying the premium. However, my upfront plan is to get the guest list down. This is why we haven't sent out the save-the-dates yet even though I've been planning this wedding since the end of last year.

Right now my FI has 26 kids on his list that are not related to us or in the wedding. I'm going to try bargain those kids off-the list.

@FoxyRoxy30,

I seemed to have misinformed you. I double-checked with Alisha this morning. Hummingbird Hall is no longer offering weddings off-site. Because my fiance and I had booked the off-site venue already for our ceremony, we will be able to have our reception there.

I apologize for the misinformation, but this definitely explains why they didn't mention this option on the chat yesterday.

All the best and happy planning!

Hi Atalanta,

Thanks for following up. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. My FI is certain we will exceed 130 and doesn't think it's a good idea to commit to HH :-(. I'm now looking into other options. If any of you know of any reasonably priced venues that will accommodate large groups, please let me know. Thanks!

Hello FoxyRoxy!  welcome3.gif

You might want to look into Villa options. There are alot of Villas in Jamaica that are simply gorgeous! I received several options from Lisa @ Jamaicantreasures.com before I settled on HH. You can check out some of the Villas listed there. Also, I believe Half Moon has Villas and decent wedding packages as well. You can PM me your email address and I can forward you the info I received from both if you'd like.

Hello FoxyRoxy! So sad to hear you will not be a HH bride sad.gif

Finding the venue was the hardest part for me as I am sure most brides would confirm. Like mbjlove said you should look into Half Moon and other larger private villas. If you have not already you should even reach out to private wedding planners on the island they could possibly give you a list of venues that can accommodate your group. Also if you chose to go with an all inclusive resort they can accommodate larger numbered groups. If I come across anything that could be helpful I will make sure to PM you!

Good luck!!

@ atalanta- Things are moving along I have scheduled 4 appointments to go dress shopping and I am starting to work on my invites! And the best part is I have 15 people booked with my travel agent so far!! I am very excited!

How about you? Have you decided on a resort yet for the accommodations? What things are you working on?

I'm jealous that you have 15 people already and your wedding is after mine! I have 11, I think, including me and the fella. I get worried that since we sent the Save the Date in July, there's no other official reminder going to our guests until we send out invites, which I wasn't planning on doing for a while. Are you guys planning on sending invites very early, or just reminding people a lot that they need to book? I don't want to bug them, but I'm also incredibly Type A and just want to doitallforthemHURRYUPPLEASE. :)

I've been corresponding a lot with Alisha and love the way things are going. I can't wait to see my wedding. Too bad the only time I'll see anything is on the day I get married there, eep!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
