Has anyone heard of Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

There are many planners in Jamaica who can help and you shouldnt have to wait until May to have most of your questions answered. If you want you can get a personal assistant/planner in Jamaica who will be able to do bookings and negotiations with vendors.

Its and option that will eliminate much of the guess work and trust me a Destination Wedding can be much cheaper than one at home, you just have to find the right people in Jamaica to help you.

email dionnealixhill@gmail.com for additional information.

Happy Planning.

Hi again!

Do you know coincidentally I have already bee in contact with both of the planners that you mentioned above and it just wasn't the right fit...this is mostly due to my long wish list and strict budget.

There is no doubt in my mind that a wedding in England or even Bermuda for that matter would be cheaper than Jamaica. Having been there over Christmas I was shocked at the prices of things such as tvs, furniture etc as we will all be moving out there at some point in the future.

I know what you mean about control and I am not an easy breezy bride either but I guess something's gotta give. I wish we had spent some time over Christmas sorting out wedding stuff but too little time :( You will have a great time in May and I hope that hummingbird hall works out, it really seems like an easy option and I miss the girls getting back to me so quickly...within hrs of each email....

How is everything with you?

Hi Ladies,

Congrats on your upcoming weddings! I am new to this but I was wondering if anybody has actually had their wedding at Hummingbird Hall as I am planned for November 25, 2011, yay! Just looking for any feedback or things about the venue itself.

Thanks!

I haven't yet. I am booked for July 4th, 2012. My fiance and I read their reviews on wedding wire and were sold. HH is a little pricey, but we get what we want. Since they are not a resort, I don't have to worry about my local friends not staying there or my out-of-town guest having to stay there. In addition, they are so flexible--they remove and add things to the contract so that you are comfortable.

What I love the most is that they are prompt with communication. They respond promptly to all of our inquiries by e-mail (same day or very next day) and they have a 16-hour, 7-days-a-week, online chat that you can get most questions answered right away. I've been on chat with them for hours at a time, and they are both patient and attentive for the entire period. They will call you if you prefer to talk by phone. My fiance and I had an initial consult with them by phone.

I've been following the Iberostar thread on this site (which I recommend reading in its entirety for information and ideas regardless of where in Montego Bay you are getting married) and these women are always commenting on not being answered in a timely fashion. That would drive me crazy. (Actually, it wouldn't because I just would end up switching venues).

Nevertheless, we've spoken at length with the creative director, Alisha, and she knows what we have in mind for our wedding. She contacts us periodically with ideas as things come to her, and we love her for that. I feel so settled to know that my wedding details are in capable hands.

I have to agree Alisha and the other staff are fantastic and the chat I must say I have taken full advantage as well! I wish I could visit before our wedding but we wont be able to visit until the week of the Wedding.  The venue seems great online but its nothing like seeing things with your own eyes. Well I am booked there and super excited! I am currently looking at Photographers now, its so many to choose from :(, so hard!

Miss K,

I probably should have used the quoted message for my latter post and addressed it to delgadot. She was/is planning to visit in May.

I probably won't do a pre-wedding visit either. My uncle wants me to come and drive around and stuff before, but I think that will cause more problems than I need. The whole idea of a destination wedding for me was to have minimal planning yet a beautiful wedding. Like you, I will probably just go down the week before our wedding to get the final planning (ie rehearsal dinner venue, etc) in order.

Did you decide not to opt for the HH photography package? May I ask why and who are you considering instead?

May I also ask, how many guests you are inviting/expecting? Where are your guests staying? When I originally booked earlier this year, we were hoping to have all of our guests stay at the Hilton. However, the resort has changed to an all-inclusive and doubled their prices. I am really afraid that some of our family and friends will not be able to attend due to the increased cost. I'm looking forward to reading about your plans. I'm am really excited to be in contact with another bride using this venue.

Hi Ladies!

I hope your trip goes well at the end of May, I cant wait to hear all about it! Well about the photography I was told recently that they do not have a set photographer anymore since their previous once moved the the states to pursue a career. They sent me the info about him but he didnt seem as experienced and he didnt have a portfolio. His pricing was ok but when comparing to other photographers he didnt include as much time. The photographer they recommended seem newer in his career and I just feel in love with some of the other photographers portfolios. Once of the most popular photographers in Montego Bay, Sun Gold Photography I ABSOLUTELY LOVED but they arent available on my day and their prices are slightly steeper. But they have a sister company under them called Associates Photographers that have about 6 different photographers and they give samples of their work and their prices are reasonable, so I am going with one of their associate photographers. I also looked at Stacey Clarke Photography. I can send anyone the info about the HH photography or anyone else if interested!

I loved the Hilton, I was going back and forth between the Hilton and Iberostar Suites but since my guest count dropped and is only about 30 - 40 people as of now - we decided on Iberostar Suites. I am definitely an advocate of all inclusive resorts especially when your guests are thinking of saving money. I gave my closest friends and family the option when deciding - most people wanted to pay more for the trip so that once arriving to the resort they knew at least all their meals and drinks are included unless they wanted to venture off and eat at local restaurants and etc. I was able to find a travel agent that booked our trips through Delta Vacations which allows my guests to pay $150.00 deposit to hold airfare and hotel and pay on their trip over the year. This was the best option for us because my guests can pay on their trips like a monthly bill, especially if you have a year to pay towards it and it doesnt appear so expensive.

My TA also told me that Hilton wasn't a true all inclusive - some items at the al carte restaurants were extra money, like steak or etc. And I knew my guests would prefer to eat and drink all week and not have to pay a penny. The Iberostar resorts are all inclusive totally.

I am still trying the figure out the welcome/ rehearsal dinner and maybe doing a group boat cruise but I havent had any luck yet, anyone have any suggestions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
