Does anyone else have a secret stash of cash for the wedding?

I know this thread is old, but here are my thoughts anyway: My fiance has a secret stash, and expects me to have one, too. We made a budget for the wedding. This number was based on what we both could come up with by the wedding date and what we reasonably felt we should spend on the wedding and honeymoon. But, this budget doesn't include attire. (That's the only way we could get the wedding that we wanted and that I could buy the attire and accessories I want. My fiance plans to use his secret stash to help some of his friends who may not have the resources afford travel to our wedding.

I think the idea of having a stash is great! I thought of the idea when we first started planning as my FI can be pretty cheap at times and didn't want me to spend too much on my dress (his number was about half of my number ha) so I started a stash for that and will keep it going for the next 10 months for whatever else I need to spend it on! :) He knows about the stash and likes the idea as I'm the better saver and am better with money. He even started contributing some when I told him I was going to use some of it for guests who we know might be short a bit for the trip!

Haha while I don't want to give the wrong impression, I don't think we'll be putting a lot toward our guests... but one of the groomsmen and one of my really good friends might not be able to get enough cash... so we're going to see how short they are and offer to top it up... they are both really important to us and we really want them there, but they're still in university and that makes it tricky! :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
