Melia Cabo Real

I'm getting married at the Melia Cabo Real on May 17, 2007. We are having a private ceremony and reception for over 75 guests. Over 70 are already booked and paid for their hotel. My problem is the WC that I am working with does not respond to my emails. When he does finally respond (after I send 4+ messages) he doesn't answer my questions. And I am really concerned that the wedding will not go as planned. I want to file a complaint with the hotel but I'm affraid that we will get even worse service. But I really need him to answer some of my questions. I have asked him for contact info. for the photographer, florist and bands or DJs. I have no idea whether or not the WC will book them for me automatically or if I even have choices.

help please...

Have you tried calling him? I know from my experience that because our wedding date is still 7 months away they tend to put me on the back burner until they have time. BUT, I would definitly call and if you still can't get a reponse, then yes complain about him.

Do you know anyone that speaks spanish that can help you make a call to him? If I were in your shoes and I had no one to help me talk to him I would ask to speak to someone at the resort that speaks english that can help you translate. Or if you have the means, go to Cabo and set up a meeting with him.

Lora-

I am getting married at the Melia San Lucas (MSL). The Melia Real is a different hotel, but I'm sure with similar management and personel. My experience with the the Melia San Lucas was actually pretty similar. The "Wedding Coordinator", Claudia, at the MSL, I found out later, is actually the Sales Manager. So she has been anything but helpful. I actually ended up hiring a wedding coordinator and she has helped tremendously. Our wedding is for 65 people and she has been able to smooth out all of our rough edges and language barriers. I can send on her information to you if you'd like to go that route. My other advice would be to call them too. I finally did that with Claudia and was able to get a bit more done. Don't stress too much though. This won't be the last time you don't receive an immediate response. I think most of the girls on this board experience it at one time or another! -jenny

If I were in your position I would definately get a Spanish speaking friend or translator on board. Have a list of questions ready and don't accept no for an answer. If that didn't work then I would definately hire a planner. Some girls have used a day of only person and significantly saved money. Last option would be to pay Cabo a visit. While I would always recommend such, everyone can't budget that. Good luck and keep us posted.

Also with you being on board a lot of the contact info is available so you can book vendors yourself. That's definately the most time consuming but not impossible

When i started working with my hotel about 4 months ago, i had a hard time getting a hold of the coordinator at first too...i agree with the girls they start to be much more responsive once it gets closer. However, you want to make sure they get the basics nailed down early like the judge or minister, and photographer so that they are not booked. Other than that, the rest can probably wait so I wouldn't stress too much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
