Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls,

To answer a few questions, yes they will need to pay a daypass. The coordinator told me its $120 for a day pass which to me is absolutely absurd considering right now on their website they say you can stay there for $80 a night. So not sure if she misunderstood me or not but thats the price she gave me. Also, if anyone is planning on staying at another resort they will absolutely need to stay in the Samana Area...just wanted to mention this in case as it was a surprise to me that Punta Cana is a good 6+ hours away driving.

As for the time of the wedding, i was told I could do 3:30, 4:00 or 4:30. Usually you are the only wedding of the day so i would think any time you pick of those three will be fine. I would confirm your wedding time as well just in the off chance there is a second wedding that day.

I also asked the coordinator about the DJ...i was very confused by her answer and am worried i wont even be able to have a DJ as dinner is in the restaurant. I mostly wanted this for the first dance and so my guests can party bewteen dinner and the disco on the beach (which i confirmed btw stays open until 2 am). Anyone heard anything about the DJ or asked any questions? I'm hoping to do my dinner outside and have the DJ in that area so we can party on the patio but maybe thats ntio possible since we will be mixed in with other guests.

Thank you so much about the information about ceremony time! I am sure that we will be the only wedding that day, since they usually only do one and we are in the off season. But I did email the coordinator just to check.

I have not yet heard of anyone having a DJ. I think we will either have an iPod or a CD for things like first dance. I am worried about this too, since I want to do a first dance and then a parent dance and I doubt we can do that at the disco. I wonder if there is a room or something that you can use to have a more traditional reception meal and such? I hope something works out...

I just heard about the day pass also, $120 is ridiculous, so I guess the ONLY option is for guests to stay at the resort.  I am becoming more and more discouraged the more fine print I find.  I was not aware until recently that they do not perform weddings on the weekends?!  What's the point then?  I have families with children planning to attend and we will be getting married in February or March when the kids are in school, so we were hoping for a weekend wedding.  Not to mention, those who need to get back to work can also fly there just for the weekend.  I guess I will be exploring other resorts now.

I confirmed my wedding time for 5pm more than once and they said yes to that. I wanted it to be very close to sunset.

As for a DJ I am not using one, but the price that I was quoted was 1600USD. I am curious to know if they quote different people different prices. I was looking at the price list that saucypantalon wrote on here and the prices that I was quoted were quite different for the same things.

I asked about wooden garden chairs-they quoted my at 700USD for 32 chairs. Again another absurdly ridiculous price for something that should be cheaper than white covered chairs.

I am not sure about those prices... But I am curious about the time. When is your wedding? I just confirmed with the coordinator a time of 4 pm; she said they only do weddings at 3, 3:30 or 4.

Our date is July though; maybe the time of year has something to do with it?

oh wow those prices are not at all the the same as the list of prices i had but probably because i took them from someone off here. I've been trying so hardvto get information from the coordiantor for prices but she keeps saying she will send me the new package soon...I feel like shes been saying this for months. It's really frustrating as i want to have an idea of how our day is going to look but its not possible until i know what options i have.

Charlong, what is your plan for after dinner? Do you know where you will be eating dinner yet?

WTF!!!! Freaking out over here.

http://www.aircanadavacations.com/en/vacation_packages/resort/Samana/Gran-Bahia-Principe-Cayo-Levantado-Don-Pablo-Collection/

According to this, after July 1, the resort is adults only.... my sister, and maid of honour, is only going to be 17 at the time. She will actually be two weeks shy of 18. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!

We are really freaking out. I emailed our travel agent but it is the holiday so I guess we are going to freak out all day. We have deposits and everything for us and our wedding party, and we put a deposit on our travel agent.

We really love the resort, too...

And there is family drama and my parents are saying there is a CHANCE that they will not be letting my sister come anyway.... omigod freaking out...

Anyway, all you brides probably want to check this out with your travel agents if you have little ones coming. Check out your options!

HI,

I have been trying to get different pricing for different things for the past couple months. I also want to know what I will be spending and on what. My answers are "this is the cost, but may change withouth notice" Tell me how frustrating that is! The wedding coordinator was really good at getting back to me for about 2 months and now it is taking almost 2 weeks which is slowing things down on my end. I only have 2 months left to get all the details sorted out for my wedding.

We were told we could have our dinner outside (the snack area) after the wedding at 5pm. In saying that, the WC e-mailed me the other day and asked me what seating time I would like at the a la carte restaurant. I was like seriously, do you guys not write anything down to keep things straight...grrrrr..I don't want my reception inside!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
