Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm getting married at this hotel on October 18th 2013. Just wondering if any brides out there have used the photographer that is affiliated with the hotel.? I'm wondering whether or not to consider booking another one from the mainland and paying for them to stay at the hotel. Also can anyone from the uk recommend a company that translate wedding documents etc? I've been quoted £1400 which seems a lot. Thanks Jenny

We were really torn on whether or not to use the hotel photographer, especially since we are on a budget. In the end, we have decided to book Caribbean Emotions to come from Punta Cana. The travel expense and hotel stay is more than the package we booked, but we are getting a video as well as the pictures, which was important to us, so I think we made the right choice. At least, I hope so! I have only heard good reviews about Caribbean Emotions, whereas I have heard NOTHING about the hotel photographer (including a name?).

I still am unsure if we are going the right way, but at the end of the day, years down the road you have the pictures and that is pretty much it; I would just like to know what I am getting ahead of time!

Wedding coordinator told me their photographer is Luma Estudio: https://www.facebook.com/luma.estudio1

I checked out the pictures on their Facebook page and wasn't much impressed. Budget-wise it is the cheapest option for the photographer though... I tried to find photographers in Samana, but they don't seem to have any - most search results give Punta Cana photographers.

Yes, and only a few Punta Cana photographers will come out to Samana. I would recommend talking to them as soon as possible.

Hi

We're getting married there in August. I'm going to do the wedding documents myself and send them to the right places - it seems fairly straightforward and I can do it for about £800 (all in, P&P everything). There is also a company that Thomsons recommend which wanted about £1300 from us!

Oh, you mean you are doing a whole legal ceremony there? We thought about doing that originally, but opted to save some money and stress and do it here first.... I much prefer the idea to doing an actual legal wedding there though. :)

Any previous brides get their hair done in the salon?

I'm getting married there in August and still not sure what to do with my hair but have heard some comments that the salon isn't worth it and you could do a better job yourself!

Anyone got suggestions or even better, photographs?!

Thanks :)

I am getting married there in July and AM having my hair done at the salon. That being said, I have short hair (re: easy to do) and am just getting it curled. I am having my sister do my makeup though.

I think if you bring pictures, you should be okay. At least, that is what I heard.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
