So we sent out our STD's and got so many verbal responses of yes, but the only people that have booked so far are my sis and her kids, Matt's immediate family (mom, dad, sis, bro-in-law, neice, bro). Our TA only could guarantee holding the 30 rooms for us for 30 days, which has long passed. Unfortunately, I didn't put a date on the STD saying book by xx/xx/xx. I am worried that if people haven't booked yet, they may have forgotten. (I am the kind of person that needs to do things, RIGHT NOW, otherwise I forget all about it.) I was going to send official invites closer to the date and include the AHR information, but now I am worried that that won't leave enough time for the people to book that meant to. I know it is way early (9 months away), but I am freaking out about what to do.

Do I send a follow-up mailing? I have a wedding website, but not many people visit it, so updating information there is good only for the few that actually use the computer for that stuff.

Actually, that is a great idea! I could use all those free deals from Vista Print. I just wasn't sure how to do it in a no-pushy way, but that could work. Maybe I should wait till about 6 months prior though? Or do you think now? See i am afraid that they prices might go up, but they could also go down? AHHHHH!

I 100% think you should send a reminder. Like you said, most of your guests don't frequent your wedding website so its best to let them know by mail. I don't think you should just remind them, you should give them a definitive date of when they have to book by or else they will be waiting to the last minute. The prices will probably only go up anyways so it is best to book early.

my invites will be mailed next month....wayyyyy early - but I don't care! I need to know & they need to book! pinkie.gif I had similar problems that you're having. we have about a dozen people booked out of 103 STDs (that would be 206+ people!) that went out!

My wedding isn't too far behind yours. For those I haven't heard from I am sending them postcards (FREE from Vistaprint) saying we havent heard from you, please let us know if you will be joining us. For those that said yes, I'm sending them a postcard saying that they can now book their rooms, and to visit our wedsite for info. I figure that this is a friendly little reminder, and stamps for postcards are cheaper then letters.

So you won't be sending something later? See, I can't do that jsut yet, but we haven't planned the AHR yet, so we will def need to send something once that is all planned. I just don't want to be obnoxious, but I really need to know! If we went by peeps that said they are coming, we have like 60+ people, but only < 20 booked so far.

If you are sending your invite now, will you be sending anything else later?

I havent' looked into Vista Print yet, but I get their many emails daily. Will they come preprinted with something along the lines of what you said above? Or you will add that info? I am about to go hunting on the website now. Screw work. smile72.gif

I got 100 of them for FREE! I only paid 5.95 for snail mail shipping since I wasn't in a rush.
I chose the fron and the back came in blank (you can choose what you want).

I did a mail merge for the address' (I sure as heck wasn't hand writing them all out)and printed them out on regular address labels.

I bought 8x11 sticker paper from Staples. I typed up what I wanted each to say in word and printed them out on those full page stickers and cut them down to size.

I'm going to mail out 'official' invites around January to those that said YES. It will be their last reminder to book if they haven't already and to choose their food choice.

I am going to do something similar myself to remind my guests. I will probably do it in October to make sure they have enough time. I am going to use a picture from our site trip on the front and put the message on the back. I am still planning on sending out an "official" invitation as well even to those who have said they arent going.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
