That's good news. It may have been tacky but I would just take advantage of the situation and have a good time!
Wedding Etiquette - IS THIS A JOKE?!

That's a good thing, but still tacky of them. What I would do if and when someone at the wedding ask, who you are or anything about how you know them and ended up in the bridal party..... I would blantanly say "We're filling in"! LOL

So we are traveling to Florida from PA in TWO WEEKS for one of my BFF's weddings. (Please note, this "BFF" is not coming to my DW in Punta Cana because she says she will not fly even though she has flown several times before). ANYWAYS, a few days ago, my BFF'S fiance said to MY fiance "so... a few of my friends can't make it so is there a chance you'd want to be in the wedding?" The two of them are friends but would never hang out without the two of us girls around. Of course my FH was put on the spot so he said "sure.. yeah of course." I find this EXTREMELY tacky, especially because he flat out told him that it was because his other friends can't come. We haven't heard anything since and my BFF just called and asked what size pants he wears.
Question: Are we going to be required to pay for his outfit to wear in this wedding he was asked to be in 2 1/2 weeks before the wedding?

I do think it is tacky! At least he was honest with your FH about why he was in a bind. I would tell them he can fill the spot, but due to the short notice and planning of your own wedding you will not be able to purchase his attire.

When my cousin was planning her wedding. I was TOLD that I would be the guest book attendant and my brother was TOLD he would be an usher. At the rehersal dinner my brother was TOLD that one of the groomsmen couldn't make it and that he would be the fill-in! Best of all is that my Aunt was the one to tell us, not the bride or groom! I cannot believe the ignorance of some people. I definately would NOT be paying for anything extra. I realize that people get stressed and proper etiquette is put on the back burner, but it sounds to me like your BFF is being pretty selfish. In my opinion this is a BIG JOKE!

Wow,talk about last minute. The least they could have done was make him feel wanted and not just like a back up.

First.. I think it would be tacky if he didn't tell him why he's asked him to fill in. It would be tacky if they asked your FI to pay for the clothes. But I'll tell you what I think is REALLY tacky. Your BFF (no offense hun). She should have mentioned something to you before her FI asked your FI. Aren't friends supposed to talk about these things/

I was a replacment and it was the most awful expereince ever! The other BM were very jelous of my helping the bride so much and they purposly caused problems around the wedding (in which they looked like the jerks). I'm so happy it's over- I wont do that ever again

I do not have equal number's for groomsmen and bridesmaids so my MOH asked if we could put her boyfriend in. My FI has never met her boyfriend ever and I was totally put on the spot I just said well they have never met and it would be kinda weird.
