Congrats Sallee

We have also just booked our Costa Rica DW. We are staying at Casa de las Brisas in Manuel Antonio (a nine bedroom villa that looks amazing) for the first week with friends and family, then we will be moving on to another part of CR for the second week. Haven't decided where yet.

We are just getting started on the wedding planning, but have a confirmed date and an officiant so far.

so excited to continue the plans.

Congratulations Ladies

The weather was a big factor when we opted for Costa Rica, we have booked 8th March 2011 for 2 weeks.

We opted for the RIU as we have used this chain of hotel's before and have never been dissappointed, I also carried out hours and hours of research on lots of locations and kept coming back to this one.

My only concern as a UK bride is that I am liasing with the hotel directly instead of using a travel agent.

I have been reading this forum for years and have seen that most US brides deal directly with the hotels themselves so I decided to take the plunge.

I will keep you all updated with regards to the hotel and how good the communications etc were.........

We are getting married in November, which is end of the wet season/beginning of dry season.

We didn't want to wait too long, and prices tend to go up after November and go back down around April. So we picked November and are hoping to have good weather.

Long before we were engaged but decided on a DW, we had always said Costa RIca because it is a place we both want to go to and has a lot of activities that suit us.

When we finally got engaged (after seven and a half years), CR was out, because my sister, who just got married in April, and her new husband honeymooned there. And my sister and her husband are very much about themselves, especially him, so we didn't want to go there for our wedding and have him make it all about himself.

So it was out of the running.

But then we had a hard time agreeing on any other location. If I picked one he would find a reason to not like it and vice versa.

So finally, one day we were out for a drive and he said, why don't we just go to Costa Rica, it's where we originally wanted to go and let's not let them ruin that.

So Costa Rica was selected.

Then we decided, since they went to Guancaste, we would just go to another area.

We came across escape villas and fell in love withe Casa de las Brisas and after much thought, decided to book it.

I am so excited and can't wait to move forward with our plans.

We are getting married June 22,2011.  The reason we picked June was because of kids getting out of school.  I will have a step son and needed to wait for him and my brother to be out of school. Spring breaks are different from state to state so it had to be during the summer months.  Since June starts rain season I booked it for the first week after they get out of school.

The reason for CR was because that's where my FI suggested.  I'd spent the last year looking at places in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.  Neither of us have ever been there and there is so much to do and see. Since it's not very often that we get a 2 week vacation if we wanted to see CR now would be the time.  I decided on Paradisus Playa Conchal.  I wanted some place that had tons of stuff to do both at the resort and outside.  That way if people want to go explore they could, or if they just want to hang out there's still lots of options.

We are going down there in October to stay at the hotel for a week vacation.  Although the FI thinks we are going to the Dominican, and I'm not telling him till we get to our layover flight.  After I decided that we were getting married in CR I really didn't want to go to the DR any more. All I could think about was CR so I called the Ta and had her change our reservations.  Now I'm counting the days till we get there.

I'm glad you started this thread there doesn't seem to be very many of us.

Well ......... so far so good with the communications. There have been e-mails flying back and forth over the last two days to arrange a time, day judge/minister and an Apostille.

I am very impressed with Arley the sales exec who arranges all of this, she is quick to answer my questions..... she has provided me with all of the additional info i wanted with regards to flowers and decorations, photo's of the location of the wedding. Also the RIU's on site photographer has been excellent in responding to my emails.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
