Gran Bahia Akumal Questions!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies!

I am super new to this forum, seems very helpful and so much information. Almost too much to go through cheesy.gif I'm getting married November 2011!!!

I haven't booked yet but I plan to book my wedding at the Gran Bahia Akumal or Coba. Depends on the airline I go with. Seems to be the best deal for myself and my guests and it looks beautiful and have heard great reviews about it. Please can anyone who has had their wedding there please help answer my questions?? I am doing the legal ceremony as well.

First, I definately want the ceremony on the beach! So my question about the beach ceremony isssss, how long of a walk down the aisle is it? i want a good amount of walking time he he. I also am having music from a CD to play for the music walking down the aisle. Can you hear the music from where you are to head down the aisle?

Next... how long is the legal ceremony? and is the videogapher good??

Photgrapher... I know most resorts don't allow this or just "frown upon it" but I have an awesome photographer here at home that really wants to come and shoot my wedding in Mexico. Has anyone else brought their own photographer?  Any info on that?

Any info helps a great deal since i'm a little in  the dark about this stuff!!

Also if anyone has pictures or their own stories to share, please do!! cheers.gif

Thanks!!!!

Not too long of a walk, it seemed just right to me!

This picture might help: Mexico (360).jpg

You start at the top and hide behind the bushes.  If you look close you can see a lady and a little girl in pink watching from where I had just left.  And then the guest who took this image was standing at the back of the ceremony site.

Can you hear the music from where you are to head down the aisle?  I had music play from a CD.  You can hear it, but not too loudly.  It's very emotional as you walk closer and the music gets louder.  It makes me want to cry just thinking about how beautiful it was!!!

Next... how long is the legal ceremony? and is the videogapher good?? Legal ceremony was super short.  15 minutes maybe?  But we added in a sand ceremony and a reading at the end, so that added some length for us.  We did not use the videographer.

I put a bunch of pictures in the review area for the resort.  I hope that helps.  Otherwise if there is something specific you'd like to see, just let me know.

Thanks!!!!

I am getting married and really hoped for it to be at Gran Bahia Akumal. I have stayed there twice and absolutely loved the resort, but have heard scary stories that Bahia akumal has a terrible reputation for weddings!! we are planning for approx 40 ppl and would love to have a beach ceremony, and dinner and dance on the beach as well.

Im heart broken, as this is my favorite place, Just wondering if any brides out there can tell me about their experience here, and if it was good/bad and if they recommend it!! Please help!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
