Doing your own bridal make up?

I'm leaning towards doing this. I am currently stressing over this makeup situation. I would like airbrush but with the price of the service coupled with a $350 vendor fee, I'm looking at $600 for makeup! To put things into perspective, the vendor fee is more than the services. Urgh...

Does your onsite spa offer regular makeup?

Mine did not offer airbrush but they used MAC makeup and set it with a spray.

It lasted well into the reception and then when we started to party hard it was coming off!  But it did more than it's job I think! But I know a few brides who just went to MAC or Sephora and had them teach them how to apply makeup and bought their products to do it themselves.

I was going to do my own at first and my hair but changed my mind.

I'm not sure what they use. I use Makeup Forever HD Foundation. I know how to apply my liquid foundation and all that good stuff I wanted the airbrush and my resort doesn't offer it.

I recently purchased an airbrush machine to practice with however I'm not so sure I'm sold on it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have a friend who did her own with high quality makeup and she looked great.

I've had my makeup done a few times and sometimes you come out looking like someone else. There is a good argument for learning to do it yourself.

I'm booked with Styling Trio. I learned my lesson already with makeup and I absolutely want the airbrushing, and I want it to last. But due to the vendor fee being charged I'm going to their salon in PDC.

They offered me that option but I'm unsure of the prices for a cab. My resort is about 30 minutes away...so I'm told.

Is your resort in PDC?

At the moment we're booked at Azul Fives but hopefully that will go by the wayside soon. I'm not happy with them at all.

I googled the trip from Now Jade to Playa and it's about a half hour and $35.00 one way. I don't know what you're resort is charging or if it would be a savings at all from having them go to you. But at least you know it will be someone reputable. Styling Trio has awesome reviews and I'm really looking forward to them doing my hair and makeup. Just looking at their pictures on their website gives me a lot of relief rather than worrying about how well the resort will do.

Good luck!

I'm not sure what the difference is between going to them, or them coming to you.

Bridal package with trial for hair and makeup and eyelashes is $475 US. Just the wedding day is $300 then if you have others it's $160 for each of them. If you take the owner, Adrian it's more.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
