Hi pink petals...

Your makeup looks great!! well done. I too want the heavier makeup look for my wedding because i want to look different. If I go light, I really won't look so different. Also it's always recommended to go heavier because of the wedding pics. The flash from the photographer's camera can make you look as if you don't have any makeup on.

Face:

Temptu airbrushing system - foundation (natural), blush (sheer berry 404), highlighter (Copper) for undereye, highlighter (Bronze) as a bronzer.

MAC pressed power for a matt finish (the make up artist at Sephora actually told me to use loose powder such as makeup foever white loose powder, but I didn't want the finish to be too white and too mat, so I used MAC pressed power.

Eye:

Urban Decay primer potion

MAC eyeshadows

Loreal HIP black eyeliner in a jar (This is a great buy! Waterproof all the way!!)

smashbox eyebrow powder

Clinique undereye concealer

Lash: I got eyelash extension called Eva Lash (combination of 10mm and 12 mm) at a local salon here in DC.  It was really uncomfortable first but I got used to it after a couple days and it looked great in the picture.  I paid $59 for it, I think it's well worth it if you don't have thick eye lashes.  Much more natural looking than fake lash you put on yourself.

Lip:

Tokidoki Lip Stain

Smashbox lip gloss

Will add some pictures soon!

Beautiful! Are there any specific products you used that you would recommend?

Plus, you get to keep the makeup which you can keep using for a long time!

I couldnt take the risk of having my makeup done at the resort spa; Ive read too many scary stories about the products and techniques they use!

Here is a pic of my face...hopefully you can get an idea of what my makeup looked like on my wedding day. I like the more heavier makeup look so it depends on the person...other like the more natural look!

If you know the makeup artist at the resort is good or can bring in a make up artist from back home, having professional is less stressful and you will get what you paid for.  But when you can't trust the resort make-up artist or can't afford to bring the professional from back home, doing your own make up gives you flexibility and  you can make it the way you want it especially if you are picky.

I'm going to a spa & salon in my town 2 months before my wedding and they are coming up with a "look" for me and teaching me how to do it in the spa & salon. My plan is to then practice my make up several times and then plan to do my own make up the day of my wedding. I do want a natural look for my wedding as I rarely wear make up and I don't want to chance the chance my skin breaks out from the make up that they use at the hotel or that I don't like their styles.

Organizing your own bridal make-up rather than hiring a make-up artist is a viable alternative if looking to trim a wedding budget. It is also a good option for those unused to wearing make-up or for someone who is getting married in a remote location. Professional freelance make-up artists charge a premium for their time and should work with you to create a fabulous look for the photos.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
