Overwhelmed.....Help.

Recommended Posts

HI,

I'm planning a wedding for the Mexico Riviera Maya area. I am a people pleaser and I want everyone to have a good time. My sister is coming with 4 kids all under the age of 8!! So i'm looking for a family friendly resort and maybe something that can accomadate a family of 6!! No luck so far. But i also dont' want it to be too family that all the single or older people that are coming can't stand it lol. I'm a little worried about HUGE resorts, I don't know how it is but I would like to be able to hangout with everyone during the day. But there is some people in my family that it would be good if it was big so (newly divoroced parents) didn't run into each other all day. I'm spinning around in circles here.. I need some suggestions please!!

Hi! First off welcome to the site and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You sound alot like me...anyways needing to make sure are taken care of first. We have a number of kids attending as well. So it made picking a spot a little tricky.

We had our choices narrowed down to:

1) Dreams Tulum

2) Barcelo Palace

3) Azul Sensatori

There are plenty more, but this is what our short list was. We ended up choicing the Azul, because of it's great food and size of resort (only 440 rooms). They also have a family suite (but I think it is a maximum of 5).

I would suggest coming up with a list of what you need and want. (food, kids club, swimming pools, disco, etc.) Then narrow it down to a top 5 resort list, and check general prices for the time of your wedding. This was a huge factor for us and our guests. From there narrow it down to 2 or 3, and request a group rate from a TA (if you'll have 10 guests or more). Good luck and feel free to ask questions, there are so many helpful people on this site.

Congratulations!  You're going to have a blast planning your destination wedding and this forum is amazing!  We have guests from toddlers to seniors coming down for our wedding in October.  We chose the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal.  We're really happy we chose a large resort that has something for everyone.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
