Finally we are confirmed at Paradisus Punta Cana for our wedding on the beach (chose the a la carte option for now until I know how many guests I will have) for April 20th 2012!

We are holding our reception with dinner on La Barcaza for a private sunset cruise and then we'll head to the nightclub on the resort to boogie and celebrate!!

Working with a great friend who is a graphic designer for our postcard Save the dates, will share an image of those soon!  At the same time I have been working on a wedding website with weddingwire.com where all of the wedding and travel details will be posted.

We got group rates from our travel agent that we are happy with, so we will be putting our deposits down next week and then start spreading the word amongst family and friends.  Its getting really exciting now that its all coming together!

NOW I can get down into my DIY projects (I have lists miles long of all the things I would like to do, thanks to BDW)!   YAY!

Hi I was originally getting married at NOW but too many things were going wrong. I am turning in my deposit so I can get married next August 11, 2012! I am so excited and debating on what kind of package I should do?? I love the Chill Out Chic package but instead of brown table clothes I like the Aqua since it goes with my colors.. does anyone know if they will let me switch that out for no fee?

Hi Dee! We just confirmed at PPC as well, for the Chill Out Chic package. They sent us a detailed a-la-carte menu recently and it looks like you can switch / upgrade at least some of the decor if needed, but there's a fee involved (or several fees, since the decoration kind of comes in parts). I know what you mean, aesthetically I like the Aqua style better, too :-)

Also, a general question for anyone who has visited PPC or already done their wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana: we've read mostly positive reviews of the PPC online, and were feeling pretty good about it up until today. But my fiancee just mentioned that we'd booked this venue to some co-workers and they reported a really terrible experience there. That combined with the handful of negative reviews on TripAdvisor (which I'm usually able to balance out with the good stuff) makes me a little nervous at this point. My experience with the wedding coordinator has been really good so far, but she's not based on-site, so I'm not sure what to expect from the on-the-ground staff.

I just joined this forum and I'm planning to read over this very impressive thread of posts in the coming days. But I figured I should also ask directly: for those who have already been there, how did you like it? What were the pros and cons? How did you like it?

kvmolina - I have not personally visited PPC, but plan to before my May 2012 wedding. I was semi worried too after reading some of the reviews on travel sites, but after reading these forums, I felt 100 times better about my choice. The women on here are brides/brides-to-be like us and have the same concerns about their big day, so with the overwhelmingly positive response from brides who are in the same position as us, I felt assured I'd made the right decision. Also, in terms of personal reviews, I've only heard wonderful things from EVERYONE including a stranger in a bridal shop who currently lives in DR and was visiting her Mom in DC. She said the staff is wonderful, the resort is amazing, and they really go above and beyond. With that said, every experience will be different so it's hard to say.

@thePYT: Thanks so much for your reply, and for the link! We're doing some more due diligence but in general, I'm feeling better about the place -- some of the general travel reviews are mixed, but you can say that for almost any resort, and it seems like most of the wedding-specific reviews I've read, here and elsewhere, have been very positive. Those are some incredible shots from that photographer -- nice to see that even in non-promotional (if still professional) photos, it still looks great. :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
