Happy Freaking Planning!!!

I need some help/advice: I am having some issues with finding a travel agent that will quote a good group rate for our wedding next year.  Have any of you had the same issues or mind sharing your contacts and how much you were quoted.  I want to make sure i am getting the best deal for all of our guests.

Thank you!!

It also depends what time of year you go and how far in advance you book.

I went to a local travel agent (I live east of Toronto) and we went 1 year and 2 months in advance to reserve. We had to put the deposit down for the airline tickets. Our trips were booked through Air Canada and Air Transat.

Our cost was $1499CAD/person based on double occupancy. That is with taxes in, flight, and hotel.

Prices went up based on going up in room category!

We also got comped - every 12th person = 1 free trip.

Hello all! My wedding is fast approaching and I am trying to finish putting all the little details together. I have a question for those who have already had their wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana. Did you have music at the cocktail hour after the ceremony? I am using the audio system for the ceremony but they will charge me to use it for the cocktail hour. I am not sure if I want to spend the money on it (trying to stay in budget) and I dont think I want the domincan trio either. Has anyone gone without music during the cocktail hour? If so, is it really noticable or did you not think it made a difference?

Also, has anyone had an event in the Romance Foyer? I am having my rehearsal dinner there. My planner suggested that I use fans? Any advice from those who have had a dinner there?

Thank you!

I just came back from our wedding last Sunday! It was everything I had imagined!!!

I had two songs played during the cocktail hour right after the ceremony, only because I had asked the sound guy to play them and he was pretty nice about it. I did notice that right after the ceremony they start to pack up right away so I think he was just being nice but anyway, after two songs that I asked to play then they packed up. The cocktail hour was fine without music. People were talking, drinking and taking pics so it wasn't awkward silent.

I just had my wedding on Sunday Dec 8th and it was everything I had imagined!!!

I had 2 songs played during cocktail hour only because I requested it. I noticed how quick they pack up the sound system after the ceremony so I think he was being nice by allowing my 2 songs to play during cocktail hour. Also, after the songs were finished it was not awkward silent. My guests were eating, talking and taking pictures so it was fine. Don't stress too much about that.

Hi,

I had my Wedding in June, 2013 on a beach (Both Ceremony and Cocktails). We had music for the ceremony, but no music for the cocktail hour due to the budget limitations. Everything went great and we did not feel that something was missing. I din't think it made any difference for us as everyone was taking pictures and talking. I am not sure how it would be in a hall, but for the beach cocktails it was perfectly fine.

Good luck

Hi Joseen,

My fiancé and I would also like to go with HDC but I wanted to ask you a few questions. Which package did you go with and did you have a videographer?

Thank you,

Sandy

Oh and did you also pay the $1000 fee or did you pay for the 3 nights? And if so, how many people did you pay for? Thanks again!

I am quite bothered by the $1000.00 vendor fee especially since I am only getting ready at the resort and my wedding is at the Jellyfish

what outside wedding vendor are you using? or is it because it's at the jellyfish restaurant?

We hired the dominican trio for our cocktail hour. We didn't even get to see or hear them as we were taking pictures on the beach during the cocktail hour. Also, none of the guests really mentioned the dominican trio so I think you could do without. We also bought our portable bose stereo to use during our welcome cocktail party, so you could do something like that.  We didn't want to pay for renting their sound system.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
