I've been planning this weeding since last October. By no means am I last minute. The only thing that seems to be lagging is my airline tickets..but I'm not worried. We will get it at a good price. The bride and Groom will be there!

Ummm.... buying tickets now or next month is really not last minute. It completely depends on where you are flying from.

Airlines sometimes wait until 6 weeks out to drop prices because people who are ready book so far out are less affected by price. Meaning the airlines know that people who plan their trips so far in advance would rather pay a higher price and have the security of a seat than wait til later. For that reason, I only started booking a few of my family's tickets this week for my Oct 19 wedding. The rest I will wait for.

I checked flights weekly since fares were released for our dates and daily since April. I've watched as each months flights were high initially and then within 2 months those fares went down. Oct's have fallen a tad, but should be coming down even further soon...because like TishaJules said the planes have so many open seats.

Last year, the lowest prices for the Caribbean were seen 6 months out. This yr it's been spotty. Very unpredictable.

As I said in an earlier post...My husband works for Delta..he doesn't throw bags, he is an airline mechanice...so we will get on a flight regardless..and it's not a buddy pass. So we CHOSE to wait on tickets. But I thank you for you insight...but I think we know what we are doing. We fly all the time. But again...thank you for your opinion on how you think I'm handling my business.

Hi girls! I'm very happy to have found this site. I am planning to get married at Paradisus Punta Cana May 2014. For you girls with more experience with the wedding process, does anyone know if booking through a travel agent still allow the couple to get the perks offered with the wedding package? (ie. free nights for every 10 rooms blocked, welcome cocktail, etc.) How do you let the hotel know the guests have booked if they book through a third party like a travel agent or expedia? Has anyone had issues with this? Thanks girls and happy wedding planning!

We Are interested in hosting a welcome dinner. We were initially going to have a beach BBQ with fire dancers at the end to get everyone excited about our wedding the next day. Later we switched to having reservations at Gabi beach. Now we are thinking we would like to do dinner at Gabi and the take a sunset cruise or something on a catamaran/ boat. Does anyone have any information on such a thing!? We just wanted to be extra special and kind of a thank you to our guests!:)

We will be flying from Dallas. The first week of December wasn't too bad for room rates and flights. We wanted to avoid the holiday peak season as well. I just can't wait and if it would of been up to me alone, I would have gotten married 6 months after our engagement! Congrats to you too! Where are you flying from?
Dallas is way cIoser! I'm flying from Edmonton, alberta!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
