Paradisus Punta Cana (PPC) Brides POST HERE!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Katie,

I saw in an earlier post that you were thinking about possibly booking a ballroom for the reception...but you've booked the pool terrace?! I was thinking the pool too...how did you decide? Whats the capacity for the pool terrace?

Also does anyone know what time the reception can go until? Or is there no time limit?

My wedding is November 19, 2013 and I actually contacted katya nova also to possibly photograph my wedding but she said that her and her husband will be in India for vacation, so I would contact her soon and hopefully she'll be available for your october wedding!! The $1000 outside vendor fee can be waived if you pay for a 3 night stay for the photographer (whether or not they stay there is up to them). I've actually booked HDC based on the amazing reviews of past brides on this forum :)

Thank you for providing this. I am having a hard time securing transportation from the airport to the resort. Do you have a company you can refer?

Also, I read in another thread regarding a $500 credit card hold per room at check-in time. Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

Denise

hi Denise,

I thought to block off rooms, it was $100/room. Then you would be credited the total amount you paid for blocking off the rooms towards the wedding?

Ok,  ladies I'm having another panic attack, please bear with me.

I have recently paid the deposit for reserving the date of October, 26, 2013 for our wedding day.  After doing average weather comparisons for that time of year I began to think I just planned the worst vacation for our guest.

So, ANYONE who can shed some light on the weather at the end of October PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know what to expect.

When doing my research it indicated that the average weather was 50% overcast and between 79-88 degrees and rains 49% of the time.  I hope we able to enjoy the weather, pools, beach and golf and hope that I didn't just pick the worst time of the year to go:(

Katie, RELAX!  The weather will be just fine.  I was there Nov. 2nd - Nov. 17th - not too far off from when you'll be there.  The weather was gorgeous, average temp was about 85 Farenheit; yes there were a few rain showers but they only lasted a few minutes and you'll find that's pretty much the case all the time.  It's actually a nice little break from what can seem like alot of humidity or if the sun is strong.  The time that most people tend to stay away from is end of August thru beginning/mid October because of hurricane season.  Technically, the hurrican season runs from June thru November - that wipes out half a year.  If it were so bad then the DR wouldn't be a hot tourist or destination wedding spot, now would it?  : )  Let go of your worries, you can have a really bad snowstorm or rainstorm back home and that wouldn't stop you from planning your wedding months in advance right?  Keep planning away - if there's a rainstorm the day of your wedding and you planned everything outside the WC's will have a backup plan in place for you all ready.

Hello PPC Brides!

I have a couple of questions for you all!

I am getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana – 11/11/13 – so excited!

We have chosen the Chill Out Chic Package – Ceremony and cocktails on the beach, reception by the pool. Starting at sunset – by the way, does anyone know what time this is around in November?

I have a couple of questions for everyone:

Firstly, when we were initially looking into pricing of having our wedding at the Paradisus Punta Cana, we were informed that the PPC does not negotiate their prices, no matter on the amount of guests booking to stay at the PPC. I have 73 people, confirmed with down payment.

I have been having numerous people, who have been to or had a destination wedding, informing me that with larger groups, often resorts will throw in little “freebies†for the ceremony and/or reception. If not “freebiesâ€, they have received discounts on extras they are purchasing for their special day. I have also spoken with a travel agent (not my own) who deals mainly with the Bahamas. She also mentioned that I “shouldnâ€t be paying a dime for the weddingâ€. This, I do not believe, nor expect.

I am just concerned that all of these people are informing me that their resort worked with them on pricing. Like I am talking cost for every extra person attending. Was anyone able to have the PPC work with them on pricing? Last time the PPC and I talked pricing was prior to any of my guests confirming.

Furthermore, is anyone familiar with the resortâ€s photographer? Any comments on their photography/experience with them?

Also, did anyone make and bring their own centerpieces/decorations? Did you bring them with you on the flight or ship them to the resort before your arrival?

Any comments would be great appreciated! Congratulations to everyone!

I am so sorry I some how missed this post. I am not sure how to really use this site! I guess after seeing pictures I just liked the outside pool area better i figured I would use the banquet location if there were rain and if it were available! I think the pool area can accommodate up to 100 or more people:). I have booked Katya for our wedding and I am so excited. She emailed me saying that she would just be a guest at my wedding and I only need to purchase her a room get around the outside photographer fee:)

Ps. That is so crazy you used Cindy as your TA! I was referred to her by Theresa and apparently she must have her own company now called my forever honeymoon:) I was a little worried because she does rooms and gets group rates and contracts but I figured my guest may save more money booking the room and flight as a package deal and I thought that the resort may not give the best rates to wedding guests because they know they can get way with charging more. It seems like whenever a hotel or resort knows there is a wedding prices sky rocket!

Hi Katie!

I have yet to write my review.....I promise I will though and post pics too.

But I read your post about the weather in October. We got married at PPC on 10/27/12. Honestly, STOP STRESSING!! The weather on our day was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Weather was breezy and clear skies! I'm not going to lie, weather wasn't as nice the day before, but thankfully it cleared up! And when it does rain, it stops quickly. Actually I regret not putting raffia fans on my guests chairs, but w/e. And also the back up areas in case it does rain are very nice as well! I hope this helps a little!

Are you using Theresa???? I hired her as my planner and she was AMAZING!!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
