Thanks CDC150!

Hmmm  we were going to have the reception on the beach (with 85+ guests we are limited) but I may have to rethink that when I go down there next week and see whats what.

That's a great idea about handing out the bags during the welcome/drinks.

With such a large group we were thinking of just inviting everyone to meet up at one time at one of the bars (also to determined once we get down there for a look).

I only have my two sisters in the wedding party, but my mom, aunt and cousin will probably want hair and make up too.

Right now we have a Royal Suite booked for the wedding, but once we see it may switch to that Reserve suite for the space and then ordering room service...

How much is the Bridal Suite? What  did it include lunch and champagne?

LoriOlivia,

I am renting the Bridal Suite for my wedding on October 19th. I emailed the spa and here is what you get...2 bottles of champagne, 4 types of canapés, Cheese skewer, Avocadoand anchovy canapés, Caviar canapés, Canapés with tuna, Eggs stuffed with tuna,Spanish omelet, Skewer with guacamole and cheese sandwich (select your favoritecanapés) Tropical Fruits, Orange Juice, Water. The maximum is 6 people and the price for the suite for 4 hours is $250. I'm not sure when your wedding is but I'll post a review once I get back and let you know all of the details.

Hello SimplenSweet.

Thanks for the info re the reception.  I didn't realize the cruise was an option.  More decisions :)

I was just assigned a new WC, Bianca and she seems really nice, accomodating and patient.  I'm probably going with the Chill Out Chic package with very simple touches.  I, too, will have to pay additional for guests because the package only covers 24 and right now we're at 38 and counting.  Again, we opted for the destination wedding to alleviate the stress that can be caused by large families (mine) and because my fiance loves the beach.  We will be staying at the resort for our honeymoon for an additional 10 days.  I'm hoping this will afford us an upgrade to the Reserve at minimal charge.

Just starting to work with a local company to determine shipping things ahead of time but reading some of the other bride's experiences has me a little nervous.  I was thinking of shipping things like cases of water, welcome bags, fans etc.  Anyone have any advise or recent experiences with this?  I'm listening.

Good luck to all of you who are planning your weddings and maybe our paths will cross during our visit to the DR.

I don't know about you girls, but I was so excited/nervous/anxious/happy I barely touched food that whole day.  My then fiance at the time had breakfast together in the morning, neither of us ate much more than a slice of fruit.  I had like 2 bites to eat while getting ready, and really didn't eat much at the reception.  My girls appreciated the food and champagne though!

I didnt get to see the bridal suite when I visited, but I already booked it because I know I'll need it.  I have 4 bridesmaids, plus both our moms, we're all getting hair and makeup done..so it was definitely needed.  I have all our appts booked too, we pretty much have the suite for the entire day and are using all 3 stylists from about 9 am - 3pm.  Plus, I figured my fiancee and his guys will want to get dressed together but now I'm hoping they don't use our room!   Guys are super messy...so can you imagine 10 guys (thats the total in his party including our dads) getting all dressed in 1 room?  YIKES.  I don't want to come back to that after the night is over, haha.  I'm hoping they go to his brother's room or something.  CDC...I'm one of those that actually eats MORE when I'm nervous & anxious...so I'm going to try to force myself not to eat too much, lol.

I booked a regular room for myself and am hoping I get upgraded to the Reserve.  The Royal rooms are actually a higher class aka expensive than Reserve..but I didnt like their decor!  Royal rooms are much closer to the beach, but frankly I wanted a bit of quiet and privacy around us during the week.  I don't mind walking or taking the trolley to see everyone at the common areas!

ElegantChic, if you decide to do La Barcaza, book it directly with them as the resort will charge an extra $15/a person for booking it for you. Here's the website posted above.

LoriOlivia to answer your questions:

-they charge you PER ITEM to set up. I've not had this quoted yet because I think my relatives might be able to help me set up the day of (I have sashes for the chairs during the ceremony, and small centerpieces of grapewood/candles/seashells for cocktail hour tables.... I have discovered that to bring your own will probably save you a lot of money. I was looking at petals for the aisle... they charge $25 a bag, and you can buy them like $5 a bag here and take them...

-I don't have any other wedding scheduled on my day so I was told that my time between ceremony and cocktail could be more spaced out (particularly if I choose to do the ceremony at the garden and the cocktail at the gazebo as planned- it will take a good 20 minutes to get everyone over there)

-Jessica Bianca is Bianca Cincu- same person- she is LOVELY to work with

Maridr hope your planning session went well!!!

Elegant Chic,

My daughter's wedding was this past January. Everything was on the beach.

I had the 2 carry-ons packed with stuff for the wedding, and the aisle runner was zipped into the bag with the wedding dress!

I brought the tablecloths and napkins, ribbon for the canopy sides and for the candle centerpieces which were made by Carribean Celebrations, which the resort uses.I brought the serving set and the toasting flutes, a sparkly initial for the cake topper, silk petals for the flower girl and the flower basket, ribbons for the bouquets, and menu cards for the reception tables. My daughter had the Chill Out package, too. Before your final payment (45 days before), request the "Entice Me" incentive. It reduces the basic package price from $3500 to 2975, and the extra person charge from $70 to $60 each !

We were not charged extra to set anything up.

Do not let the coordinators in Miami tell you that some things are extra. We did not pay for the sweetheart table for the bride and groom or for the dinner reservations for 35-37 people for the rehearsal dinner.

We absolutely loved having everything on the beach. What time is your ceremony? Sunset is a little after 6 (after five there because there is no Daylight SavingsTime).

Hope this helps

thnx ladies for the info! reading all the posts is so helpful and is so great to know i'm not alone with all the questions and unavoidable stress! lmazz729 you mentioned about requesting the entice me option - im also choosing the chill out chic package too. i was under the impression that the entice me option had to be requested before setting/choosing your wedding date. if you've already chosen it how would that work if they were to change the date? could you elaborate on that? thnx!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
