Hey, they are not charging a $100/per hour for the ipod dock, they are charging it for "the speaker system" :/ still seems like a lot...but that's where they get us all...with those lil extras...grrrrr

I totally agree with booking the wedding boat directly with them. The prices are so much better! Are you doing any decorations on it? I was talking to Flori and she said that you can either bring your own or she can see what she could do for decorating it. I can't believe that they want to charge 100/hr for the ipod dock! Riduculous!!

Awesome, I'm sure we'll be running into each other and celebrating at night before our day...lol (sounds funny) I'll be staying in the Royal Service. How about you? Have you been to PPC before or to Punta Cana? I'm gonna try and get an excursion in before the big day just to get away from it all....

This thread will be so helpful hope you enjoy :)

So I got an email back from PPC, we are able to bring our own ipod player if we would like!!  The sound system at $100/hr included hook up to a computer, speakers and a microphone in case anyone was interested.  I think we are just going to bring our own, we have a small group and I don't really need anything big.

1. I think its WAY to early for STDs to go out!  I know, at least for myself, that I would lose it and I wouldn't have a calendar that I could actually put information to save the date.  I don't think you should send any out until at most 1 year before the date.  Also, consider that you may gain new friends and lose touch with old friends in 2 years?

2. Yes it is a bit difficult to get a marriage license in Punta Cana, it will be in spanish, you have to get your documents translated and verified and you will have to be in the DR for a certain amount of days (I think it's 4 days) until you are able to apply for it.  I chose to get married just in a small ceremony before we left for Punta Cana just to make everything easier.

3. I chose Punta Cana in the first place because it was the most cost effective island.  I really didn't want to have my wedding in mexico and was looking at jamaica and st lucia but both those were quite expensive and had limited all inclusive options.  I chose PPC over other hotels because I loved the wedding packages.  All I had to do was pick one and it would turn out like the pictures.  I really didn't want to spend time on the small details and I wanted to be (mostly) stress free.  This is another reason why I chose a destination wedding in the first place.  We were originally looking at a mountain wedding but quickly changed our minds when we saw prices and I found out how much I would need to organize.  We invited our closest family and friends to Punta Cana and then we have organized a cocktail reception when we get back to celebrate with everyone that couldn't come and we didn't invite to Punta Cana.  This has so far worked well for us!

Hey everyone!

I haven't written in awhile but I'm trying to wrap a few more details before the big day in May.  I want to get all my guests together for drinks the night we all arrive and was wondering if anyone had recommendations as to where we should do this....I've heard from a few people that the lobby bar is the best place and the most lively.  What about the Gabi Club?  Also, some of my guests are not staying in the Reserve so does that mean that they will not be able to go into the Gabi Club??

Thank you guys :)

Megan

The Lobby Bar is great they have the lounge beds, swinging benches, a lot of seating sections, the bar area is big as well, they have a live band after the nightly shows. They also have the Red lounge which is the mexican restaurant during dinner hours... very nice as well.

The Gabi lounge is nice but rather quiet, after dinner they're not open for much longer, and yes guests that are not part of the reserve can enjoy the Gabi Lounge as well.... fyi they really don't have security watching out for bracelets to see who belongs in which section... it's pretty laid back.

I agree....the lobby is beautiful. there is usually something going on there. THe casino is also right there as well if some of your guests want to have a little activity for a short period :)

The Gabi lounge is VERY quiet. Its a great place to relax and just have a drink, not much goes on there at all.

There is also the restaurant at the beach...i cant remember what its called now (miss, do you remember? ) you wont see the Ocean but you can here it :) nice place as well

It's called Luna (my reception yaayy) lol but they usually have it closed half the time, they open it for lunch and dinner sometimes, yo would have to check the schedule for the week first before you decide on a specific restaurant to have drinks... but it is a beautiful spot at night, they should put more lighting by the beach that way everyone can see it at night.

I always forget the name...i dont know why wacko.gif its pretty simple too and i should just think of the moon :)

It really is beautiful though. You could probably always make arrangements with your WC if its not open and its what you really wanted

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
