Paradisus Punta Cana (PPC) Brides POST HERE!!

MrsLamb - I'm guessing you're furious because you've already paid for the liquor? I think your wedding is Oct. 23, right? If you complain enough they may upgrade you to the 2011 package. I was able to do that for my Oct. 24 wedding, so I don't see why they couldn't do it for you!  Or I could be totally wrong about what you're mad about, and in that case, just ignore me :)

We are using Diane Amato-Doerfler from Travel and Beyond out of Baltimore, MD.  She specializes in destination weddings and in fact got married a few years back in Punta Cana!  Super nice lady and on the ball.

Bikegirl,

There is no extra cost for the alternative menus, but I just read someone else's post that said something about them switching suppliers, so I will have to email Lauren to ask her about that.  As for the chair sashes, I ordered them from www.tableclothsfactory.com the shipping was about $15, but I ordered chair sashes and tablerunners (that I don't think I will use now!).

Here are the other two menu options that she sent me:

Grill Buffet Menu Option #1

Assorted Bread with Butter

Salad Station:

Lettuce, Tomatoes, Carrots, Peppers, Cabbage

Potatoes Salad with Peas, Beet, Mimosa, Seafood Salad

Sauces: Vinaigrette &  Ali Oli

*****

Hi, Ladies!

I am at the resort right now and LOVING IT!!!  The staff is amazing. The food is great. I`m sure the pool and beach are wonderful too-- I`ll check them out tomorrow when I`m finally done with the welcome bags and wedding planning!

I was so nervous before today because I wasn`t sure I could get the wedding I wanted for my budget. I was ready to go the Jellyfish-- which is really cool, by the way. Mayte was amazing-- super fast in responding and so on top of things. In the end, my heart was set on this resort, and I´m so happy that we were able to get everything I wanted within my budget. Jennifer is very sweet and in 2 hours we had everything picked out.

So, all that worrying for nothing.  Alelujah. I am a happy, happy girl!

Hey ladies -

My wedding date is quickly approaching, Dec. 11th, but we leave on the 6th. We recently changed our package to the 2011 Aqua package for the simple fact that it include open bar and we refused to not have open bar for our cocktail hour and entire reception. That was one of the things we felt we had to have, both of our families and friends are big drinkers. We had our planning call with Lauren, who works outside of PPC, but has helped us with all the preparations leading up to our travel dates, then we meet with the WC's when we get to PPC. In the end the change actually saves us $65, which is kind of funny.

We are planning to do the Beach BBQ for our Welcome Dinner on Friday night, which will be like our rehearsal dinner.

As I was reading through here I saw a post about lighting - the strand of lanterns is ridiculous, $300 or what ever, that's just stupid, but I thought I say someone post that we are not allowed to bring our own lighting? Is that correct? We were thinking of bringing strands of Christmas lights to hang around the pool since it will be dark out there?

Thanks ladies and good luck with all the planning.

Nichole

Hello Bikegirl and all PPC Brides,

I have been reading your blogs and I must say thank you for all the helpful information you have shared.  It really help me make some of the decisions I have made so far.  I just locked in my wedding date for June 19, 2011 at PPC.  I have not decided on the package yet.  I am thinking going al carte would be less expensive, but I really need to know your opinion.  Bikegirl, I believe you are doing the chill out chic.  I was wondering if you have considered al carte and if so, why didn't go with it?

Also, if any one is doing group rates and already have put in deposits, could you please share your expreince and if it's worth doing the group room blocking my TA is trying to get me into doing?

Thanks so much!

Hi mushra2011, glad to have you join us on this forum! You're only a month or so after my wedding! :)

I have not posted anything further because the rep I'm dealing with (Teresa Calcos) is on vacation until mid-November because her son is actually getting married at the PPC! Once she's back, she offered to have a call with me to plan the wedding even though it's more than 6 mths away. The reason is....I am expecting about 30-35 guests. 27 are already booked. The new packages are for 24 guests and additional $70-100 every guest after that. According to her, it may be cheaper to go with the Fantasy package and add other things a la carte if I have a number of additional guests. Once we have our call, I will definitely post any info I get.

As for group rate...we went with a Toronto destination wedding travel agent. The communication has been subpar but the price is good...better than what I've seen on Expedia, Flight Centre, etc.. We got the quote late May and had to get $200 deposits for min 10 ppl to secure the rate by June. Thought we'd have trouble but we ended up with 27!

I would go with the group rate. It's given me headaches....not everyone is taking the exact package offered. Some want upgrades, single rooms, connecting flights, etc.and even with a TA, you'll still end up involved. BUT at least if something happens, the TA can move the entire block. For example, we all put our deposits down but the Saturday flight was booked by a large corporate group so our group was moved to Sunday whereas if everyone booked separately, they'd have to deal with it themselves...

Thanks Bikegirl!  I will keep checking for the updates.  I will consider the group rate and see if I can get people to book early.  it's not an easy job to call people and remind them to book, but I will give it a try.  Thanks for the info.

I'm also working with Teresa and I have scheduled a tele conference to talk about the package.  It was hard for to do al carte from the speadsheet as it's not clear what is included and what is not.  Teresa said she could help me with that.  She seems a wonderful person to work with.  My tele conf. with her is mid November.  I will share what I learned.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
