Villa La Laguna

Hey girls,

Cant seem to find any info on wedding that have been held at Villa la Laguna. It looks absolutely perfect for our wedding of about 100. We wanted a private villa for our special day and also wanted to be able to party into the night. Villa La Laguna seems to offer this. However, from the pics it doesnt look like we would be able to seat all 100 guests for a formal dinner on the property. We like the idea of a beach ceremony but would much rather be off the beach for dinner and dance. Also, I am a bit worried that if we have our ceremony on the beach guests will have to walk through the reception set up to get the the beach. I really dont like this idea.

Has anyone had a wedding her or has been to a wedding here?

Also can anyone quote average rates for hosting a villa wedding for 100?

Thanks all!

We looked very seriously into having our wedding at La Laguna. It didn't work out, however, for several reasons. The property is pretty far from any other accommodations and from town, and we wanted our guests to be close to us without having to drive or pay expensive cab fees everyday. Additionally, there is a three night minimum rental plus event fees, or a $10,000 event fee with no rental. We just could not justify the cost. I have included the document that was sent to me by the owner, hopefully it will answer some questions. We ended up deciding on Cabo del Sol because it offers the privacy of a villa, without having to separately rent everything and hire caterers. I've also heard good things regarding the 3 villas Amanda, Serena, and Anne-Lei. They are all next to each other and located directly on the beach. Unfortunately they were for sale when we were looking, but there is a review on the forum from a wedding at the villas and it seems like the wedding was wonderful!

Good Luck!

Hi Doni,

Thanks so much for this helpful insight. Now thinking about it I think youre right. I didnt realise how difficult it would be to transport everyone to and from the villa. I guest I just feel in love with the look and forgot to think of all the practicalities. I wasnt aware of the Cabo del Sol being a private villa. Having looked at some of the other forum post it seems like this location or the Zoetry Casa del Mar location are now our top 2!

During your site visit did you look at the Casa del Mar? Both look fab. Ideally we would like to get married on the beach and an air-con reception area is a plus too. Can you marry on the beach at the Cabo del Sole?

Thanks so much for your feedback!

I agree completely about Laguna! I was obsessed with the idea of it but no matter what it just would not work out. Cabo del Sol is a golf course and golf club. The ceremony can take place on the golf greens or on the beach, and the reception at the clubhouse, which is completely open and has gorgeous views. It has glass panel doors so it can be closed off and the a/c can be turned on if it is hot. So..although it is not a villa, the course and clubhouse are closed in the evenings. You get the privacy that a villa has to offer. I have lots of info including prices, etc. if you are interested. We started planning over a year ago and I don't think zoetry was open at the time, so we did not consider it. I believe it is all inclusive though and further from town - both of which we were trying to avoid. The nice thing about having the wedding at Cabo del Sol is that your guests can stay anywhere they would like without having to bother with day passes, etc.

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
