Outside photographer all the way...at least that is my opinion.  It is the one thing I know matters the most because those pics are the only things you will have with you from that amazing day.  I hope all these posts make it easier for you to decide.

I am not using the photographer at the resort. I hired Samuel Luna, a local photographer. Sandra and Daniela can recommend some great photographers (that's what they said when I met them a couple of weeks ago- hopefully not just friends but actual great and reputable photographers!). And since we aren't using the resort photographer but he was included in the Divine wedding package, we are able to add on to the videographer's services. I am sure that you could do the same, depending on what wedding package you have purchased. Just thought I'd let you know!

I did not pay a lot of money for my photography and I am 110% satisfied with my photos. Plus, my main photographer is Mexican and speaks Spanish which came in handy!

I was honestly surprised at some of the quotes I received while planning my wedding in Mexico. I live in Chicago which is a pretty expensive city and some of the prices in Mexico were higher than what I was quoted here (higher by $1000-$2,000).  I agree that you should look at their work, get recommendations from other brides and go with what makes you feel comfortable. However, just because someone charges over $5,000 (and I consider this a good chunk of cashola!)  does not mean you will necessarily be happier with that choice. I personally would not trust the resorts' photographer unless you have seen the work and are truly happy with it!  You will look beautiful and Im sure all will be perfect for you!

i have decided to go with Gonzalo Nunez for my wedding photography.  i feel so much better about hiring someone other then the resort photographer, not that they would do a horrible job but i feel better being able to see great photos from a photographer who is able to show you their work so you can get an idea of their photography style.  gonzalo has been great to work with and he takes amazing photos.  i am excited to work with him in february! :)

Hola!

Choosing your photographer is a very personal task. The only way to know who your photographer will be is looking at their work. Ask to look at the photographer's work with a previous client reference if possible. There are many ways to photograph an event, some like candid shots, some like fashion posses, some have more journalistic work, some mixes all this toghether or can do as you ask. So this is what I recommend.

=)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
