Book Club 2010

Sorry this review has taken so long to write. But here it is...finally

Room: I really enjoyed this book. At first I was thrown by having the story told through Jack's POV, but in the end I think it was interesting and effective. It made me see things that I probably wouldn't have considered if the story were told through Ma.

The breastfeeding thing didn't seem strange to me. I don't have children, but it seems that Ma had so little that she could give Jack and I think it was a comfort for them both. Also, she probably had to keep it up longer than what would typically be considered 'normal' because I doubt that Old Nick would have bought formula for him.

One thing I found strange was that Ma had only made one other escape attempt before Jack. Also, I found it interesting that Ma didn't really show signs of Stockholm Syndrome. She was submissive to him, but it was more out of a desire to protect Jack than any Psychological dependence.

I kept everyone's same suggestion. Random number generator gave me 11 which is Geralyn who chose Suzanne Collin's "The Hunger Games".

We open book discussion for Sarah's Key on Friday the 12th. We will read The Hunger Games and discuss it on December 12th.

Brief synopsis on The Hunger Games:

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.

Happy Reading!!!!

This is true! Actually had someone PM me to see if we would read book 2 next. So if you guys read it and want to we could do all 3 books. They are short and fast but totally worth it! We could do a 2 month one this time so we would finish on January 12 instead? Pass the holidays up! There are 3 books..The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Let me know what you guys think.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
