OOT Bags for non-typical DW

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies, I hope you can help me. We are getting married in Australia, but it will still be a traditional church ceremony with a sit down dinner reception in a hotel. Of the DWs I've read about, most seem to be where the guests would stay in the same hotel/resort as the bride and groom. Although we'll be suggesting a couple of hotels, some people will choose to stay with family/friends or in completely different hotels. Does anyone have any experience of having to ask guests for details of their accommodation and driving around lots of different hotels to distribute the bags? Is it all worth it?!

I do not have any experience with this but I think the OOT bags would still be worth it and very much appreciated. You can probably just drop them off at the front desk of the hotel and ask them to put it in there to make it less laborsome.

As for finding out where they were staying, I think it's normal to follow up and request that information. Where in Australia are you getting married?

Thanks Beth. We're getting married in Sydney, but in a rather strange suburb of the city, more like the business district, so not really where the touristy hotels are. The reason for this is because we're both Welsh and this is the church where the Welsh congregation of Sydney go.

As soon as I decided to have a wedding abroad, I knew that OOT bags were something I really wanted to do. I guess FI will have to spend a day driving round delivering the bags!

I'm getting married in Mexico and have some guests that are staying in time shares and resorts other than the one we have booked for the wedding.  I am planning on delivering the OOT bags to the front desk of their hotels.  We ended up adding a line on our RSVP's that asked the guests to check the box if they were staying at the resort we made arrangements for everyone at.  If they were making their own accommodations, we asked that they include the info for that resort/timeshare.

I hope this helps!

Do you plan on having any sort of welcome dinner or cocktails with all of your guests. Some ladies opt to give their bags out at their welcome dinner/cocktail hour since it is the one time that they will have all of their guests together other than at the wedding ceremony itself. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. We are planning on hiring out a bar on the night before the wedding and having a sort of pub quiz (as that's how we met). This will be optional though, so some people may not attend. We're not having a welcome dinner as such, as guests will be arriving throughout the week (although hopefully not too close to the wedding as they'll be too jet-lagged!). FI has a good friend in the city who I think has a car, so they can spend a day bonding and delivering the bags!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
