Read as much as you can for the first few days. You will get lots of info about what works and what doesn't. I would definitely take the reviews on here to heart. The brides are very honest and usually list every detail. Good luck in your planning. I think if you focus on it you will get it all accomplished, no problem! BTW, we are getting married at Dreams Tulum.

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully you'll find what you're looking for. I can't tell you much about the Sunset Princess, but the RIU's are very nice. I have stayed at the RIU Yucatan, and we did a site inspection at the RIU Palace (be careful there are 2 RIU Palaces almost right beside each other). They are both beautiful. I would suggest advising your guests ahead of time you are planning a destination wedding so they can start planning for it. Also take a quick look on a travel website for pricing on the resorts, what would work better for you and your guests and maybe tackle your decision that way.

We had to include a resort which was kid friendly, so that changed a lot for us. (I think the RIU Palaces are adult only-but you should double check, the other RIU's are family resorts.)

Good luck!

Hola!

Welcome to the forum and above all, congratulations for your engagement!

Firstly, one of the best things about Riviera Maya is the fact that you can get everything you dream, and it goes from the simplest things, up to the most elaborated... So I am certain that you will love it.Concerning the resort, rather try to find out the advice you get on this forum. Tripadvisor is a great tool but sometimes, people write a review when they are unhappy... Anyways, i am confident that you will find the right place for your wedding :)
Your wedding is going to be full of magic and this website will help you a lot!

We wish you the best.

Happy planning.

Thank you everyone for the wishes of good luck!  Yesterday, I sent off a request to the Royal Playa Del Carmen and they responded within 24 hours.  I am off to search this site for any and all information about this resort, as I think this might be the one (my fiance likes it!)

If any of you happen to be getting married there, or have been married there recently please do not hesitate to fill me in on the details.  We are looking at a small gathering of about 15 to 20 people (including the two of us) and do not want to blow our budget!  I think that this resort may be a bit pricey as far as accommodations go, so I am looking for information about group rates.

Off I go to research!  cheer2.gif

Congrates fellow Canadian..

I would love to give you some advice, but I try to stay out of the resort vs resort thing because one couple will love a resort and then next couple will have a less than desirable experience... If your really stuck PM me... (with budget too please) ... the other thing I can do is get you in touch with some great travel agents from Canada that specialize in these... ??

best of luck!

-dean

btw. 3 months, no problem.. the more time, the more you have to fret and worry, so there you go, less worrying ... the only problems are if your guests can make it for the date and the rings... if you want custom rings, go now! .. cause it might take time to find and make those things... :) .. other than that, your good and have fun.. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
