Dominiqueamber no worries girl. I did not take any offense to your tone in anyway! I love this forum because you get advice from people who could be insiders and can help you out. So I appreciate your advice 100%. The problem with posts is that you can't hear the person's tone. I am very excited about wedding and planning it is soooo amazing. October is going to be great not too hot, not too cold! I will miss the Junkanoo madness as well. Thanks again for the advice~cheesy.gif

dominiqueamber: You are very close to me, my future sister-in-law is in Chesapeake, so I come down there ever so often. I am Jamaican and I have an aunt that actually lives there right now, she moved there from Jamaica. I also have some college friends that live there as well. Where in Nassau are you having your wedding?

  • 2 weeks later...

Mrs.Jones - I know the BDW family is so big so is it corny I feel like I have a "planning neighbor"? :) Your aunt's name isn't Carlene is it? I know there's more than one Jamician in Bahamas but that would just be too weird if it was the same woman I know.

I havn't gotten that far to pick a place yet. My FI said for me to pick a beach when I come (supposed to be in a few weeks) and that there's an area behind his house they rent for parties that would be great for a small reception since were having an AHR. I was looking at the Beach Club Cafe for dinner and maybe ceremony (I wanna see the beach first) but the pictures online of the resturant look like my style so I'm excited to visit. I'm trying to plan it so our guests don't have to far to travel since they'll need to be taxied around and that gets expensive. My FI drives taxi so I know he can get a great deal for everyone because he has drivers he uses when he puts together tours but since they're already comming so far I wanna keep costs down. Most of my family is comming by cruise ship cause it's cheaper and some are flying in and staying for a week. Anyway I rambling...oh if it helps I take the chinatown bus to NYC every once and a while for $20 round trip, visiting friends and shopping and I got some pashminas for $3 each during thanksgiving, I havn't bought wedding ones yet but I'm hoping to bargin them down to $2 each and save on shipping!

@ dominiqueamber: We are definitely planning neighbors! My aunt's name is Blossom and she works as a nurse in Nassau. I need to go down there myself to see everything. It looks amazing in pictures, but I need to see it with my eyes. LOL! I know I am a crazy hands on bride, but I want it to be a good time for my guests and us. You definitely have a blessing with your FI down there already. Travelling down to Nassau for a couple days this time of year is going to be pricey so I am just trying to figure something out. Otherwise my FI and I have decided to fly to Miami and just paddle our way to Nassau, LOL!! JUST KIDDING! It will work out some way. Transportation is pricey down there for large groups that is why I wanted to do everything at one place. When is your wedding date?

Aww I was just thinking how cool it would be if it was the same person- the woman I know is Carlene - Oh well...I can't wait to experience is as a bride to be and not just a tourist...I'm supposed to be going in January now...It's crazy to me to spend $300-some on a ticket when it wa sjust $200 but I know it's just going to keep going up...It's a blessing that he went to high school with someone that can do everything (I'm still working on the trust someone I've never met part) but he has a friend to do pictures and make conch salad and dj, ect - my favorite is his friend that became a famous steel pan player who wants to play as a favor for him..I hope you two get there soon...I be your eyes n ears if you need me too...I was thinking 9,10,11 would be a good date but he's not sure he want's to wait that long so it's not settled yet but it'll be August or September cause he's going to move here for september n october during their off season :) hey are you snowed in? :) I left richmond sunday morning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
