We've designed our own invitations and looked into the cost of having them professionally printed at a print shop and the price doesn't seem much different that what it would cost for us to just buy a better printer and print these at home (and have the printer for future use!).

What did everyone else do?  Would there be a noticeable difference in quality to print at home, even on a new "good" printer?  We'd buy speciality paper, of course.

We did a trial run using Office Max to print.  Not sure how their prices would compare to your print shop.

Cookiemunchkin,   I actually printed everything at work. We have a pretty good laser printer, and we're allowed to print whatever we'd like...so I did that. Do you know of anyone (or FI) whose job is as flexible as mine? It truly came in handy..
